It would be fake even with ACR/ACR results to have Amazon only to top the chart so I can't see it happening unless Kylie makes the decision not to back it on the single horse anymore last minute and make stuff like at least a YouTube Music Video on top of the Amazon to bump her up if not put it on the rest of the audio platforms to take out the amazon exclusive thing stopping her from topping the chart.
It's going to be a Wham retain unless if Mariah can finally do it herself or Pogues other number twos which had issues winning it for the same length as Wham.
Kylie won't get close because of being an amazon format snob unless a physical is on there as well which could bump her up by having multiple amazon formats but even then she is outnumbered as a contender for not having the formats.

How about Mad World back at Xmas number one, never hear it played anymore which is a shame. Always remember being pleased when it pipped the Darkness to the top spot. Justin Hawkins was an arrogant git.

Fate Of Ophelia will probably stay pretty stable, then rise again in the new year.
The Shuffle
Jona Lewie and Slade in the top 10 ?! I think you've been at the sherry.

'Merry Xmas Everybody' cooled off on me over the years but I'll defend 'Stop The Cavalry'.

It's the fact he's predicting it entering the Top 10 along with The Pretenders that's baffling. No chance. STC is a great tune but not as good as his kitchen party one.

Little bit disappointed with WHAM! at number one again. Would have preferred to see RAYE or Kylie Minogue at the top. Would have loved to have seen some impact from JADE's deluxe album, a lot of the new stuff is some of her strongest works..
My Personal Top 10:
Full Chart: Please note Christmas songs peaks are incorrect on Crown Note.
https://www.crownnote.com/charts/the40/the-40-9th-december-2025-15th-december-2025
The Shuffle
Peak positions are incorrect on this chart as well. 'I wish it could be Christmas every day' is showing it's peak position as 10 and yet it reached 4 on it's initial release. Why are the OCC confusing/misleading the casual users of this site ? In any other field of business, Trading Standards (UK) would have a genuine case to uphold against the OCC.
L
litefoot
People have been complaining about the WOC and peak positions for years and the OCC do nothing about it.
I mean, surely it's not that difficult? It's mostly Christmas tracks that peaked back in the day and the data ported over from the old Guinness books hasn't been linked to the stats in the streaming era.
Oh, and while you're sorting that out, OCC (ha!), take a look at the week the charts moved from the NME to Record Retailer - I'm sure you double count a week there.
The Shuffle
Sent an email to Carl Smith (head honcho) today regarding this matter, if he deigns to reply I will update you all.

Looks like 'I Run' is going to be a hit in the new year after all. Still not a fan of it unfortunately. :(
Very impressed that ‘Lush Life’ actually managed to gain despite all the Christmas songs. At the rate it’s going, it could end up having another substantial chart run come January. That would be amazing!

If we’re going to send ‘Last Christmas’ back to the summit again, can we please have something else as Christmas Number One this year?
We haven’t had one that isn’t from either LadBaby or Wham! since 2017. A change is long overdue.
strangeways_here_we_come
I don't think we'll ever get it unless it's a giant british act really which would have to be advertised well. You never know though they got rage against the machine to #1 in 2009
jasonblur
Totally agree with you.Need a new Christmas number one. 8 years of Ladbaby and Wham . Destroying the Christmas number one tradition. Charts at Christmas are a joke .Wham are going to be Xmas number one every year 🥱
allanbusby
at least its a christmas song all we had before it was xfactor and ladbaby look at the american christmas number 1 its been mariah every year

Xmas is no different to any other time of the year, songs that are listened to the most make the charts, be it March or December.

That's never going to happen *laughs but holds my tears inside*
Piran
It's most likely going to be either Brenda or Kelly. I think we're past the point where songs can get there on sales alone.
Piran
Exactly. The Christmas Number One was one of my favourite chart traditions of the year and I'm not excited for it at all. :(
Piran
The US don't really care about the Christmas Number One. They just see it as any other week in terms of the chart.
The Shuffle
That was the case for many years, but they seem to have caught up now, Brenda Lee, Mariah and even dear old Burl Ives are cracking the Top 10 these days. Unfortunately Wham just don't have enough puff on the last lap to hit number one.
Piran
Absolutely delighted to see ‘Underneath The Tree’ in the Top 5 for the first time ever!
It seems to be the most successful of the Christmas songs released this century. Hopefully it can go all the way to #1 sometime. :)

Speaking of Christmas classics i'm sad that the only classic of this decade so far is Ed & Elton's song.. it really makes the future of Christmas classics look dark :(

Ed and Elt a Xmas classic ! now you must be on the sherry !

You never know. Neither 'Underneath The Tree' or 'Santa Tell Me' were as big in the 2010s as they are now. It takes time for Christmas songs to grow into classics.
