Well here come the Christmas songs flooding in mid november lol. Didn't expect to see a top 40 one this early though. Also I'd like to see the new bandaid one get #1 maybe just because it's the sound of my childhood (around Christmas time)

Fairytale of new York coming back in is good. Another nostalgic sound of Christmas for me.

Another thing, I cannot stand santa tell me. Sorry but it's just not a generally good song and that's all I have to say about it. I think I was like 7 when it came out and I used to hate it passionately lol. I mean I've felt this way with every Christmas song after Underneath The Tree. That is one I like

Hopefully Merry Xmas Everybody gets a high chart position this year. And maybe Thank God It's Christmas by Queen.

I know this has literally just been commented but I'm going to add to it because it's a universal problem.

Stop pop up ads!! I keep accidentally clicking on a Paddington bear pop up when I just wanna see the chart.. it comes out of nowhere!! Fix it

let’s go wildflower in the top 10!! <3

also occ i’ve nudged you about this last week and i’ll do it again until you stop with the pop up ads, you sellout corporate people are making the charts a pain to scroll through. i don’t even care for the charts but id still rather look through a list without being bombarded with a pop-up. you’re no better than limewire.

I don't get this problem as I mainly use desktop and have an adblocker, but I definitely get why it would be annoying to mobile users. Hopefully they fix it. :/

Chart Review 15/11/24

I don't have anything creative to say this week. However, I may or may not be hibernating from the comment section for the next couple of weeks. This is due to the fact that I've been roped into spending a fortnight in the Canary Islands for my 18th birthday, and I'm unsure as to whether or not there's gonna be Wi-Fi in my hotel. Hopefully there will be, but at least it can give me a break from moaning about how stale the charts are these days if there isn't any. See you in seven days. Maybe.

AMAZING TIER:

Chappell Roan [4] (New No.1 lads. In my chart anyway.), Linkin Park [25] (That album impact is gonna be ruthless.), Shaboozey [26] (Make that 30 weeks for America's No.1 for the past million months.)

GREAT TIER:

Chappell Roan [17], Sabrina Carpenter [19], Adam Port/Stryv/You Get The Drill By Now [11]

GOOD TIER:

Billie Eilish [13], Sabrina Carpenter [10], Tate McRae [36], Mariah Carey [38] (To be fair, it's the only Christmas song you'd catch me singing at the top of my lungs. 😛), Gracie Abrams [31] (This was last in the Top 40 TWENTY-TWO WEEKS AGO. WHY IS IT BACK NOW. It's alright.), Sonny Fodera/Jazzy/D.O.D. [34]

OK TIER:

ROSÉ ft. Bruno Mars [3], Tyler, The Creator [27], Addison Rae [16], Chrystal [39], (Hooray for minimalism I guess.), Gracie Abrams [1], Teddy Swims [5], Billie Eilish [7] (Nothing like a Billie ballad to re-affirm your sense of boredom eh?), Lady Gaga [21], Myles Smith [12]

EH TIER:

Gigi Perez [2], Gracie Abrams [20], Sabrina Carpenter [6], KSI ft. Trippie Redd [9], Paris Paloma [22] (I didn't care about this when it first charted, and my opinion hasn't altered since. Blame Donald Trump.), Noah Kahan [32], Morgan Wallen [40], One Direction [28]

DISLIKE TIER:

Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars [14], Teddy Swims [8] (Good for you I s'pose.), Myles Smith [24] (New one is better lolz.), The Kid LAROI [30], Dasha [37]

BAD TIER:

The Weeknd/Playboi Carti [15], Hozier [33], BL3SS/CamrinWatsin/bbyclose [35]

AWFUL TIER:

cassö/RAYE/D-Block Europe [29] (I've had enough of this muck.), Benson Boone [18] (Where's Wham! when you need them?), Teddy Swims [23]

EVERYTHING THAT'S NEW THIS WEEK:

Myles Smith - Nice To Meet You [12] (Considering how Stargazing just does not want to evaporate anytime soon, seeing him break his 1-hit wonder status with a song that isn't as monotonous is... reassuring I guess.)

Griff - last night's mascara [57] (Still yet to make anything as good as Black Hole, but you know, at least she's trying. To be fair, she can still chart these days despite her recent singles flopping like crazy.)

Zach Bryan - High Road [66] (Just 4 months after his latest album, the mid-table country sleeper-agent sticks a couple songs out and hopes for the best. This is fine or whatever who cares.)

Zach Bryan - This World's a Giant [73] (And here's the other one. If this was George Ezra recording this he'd be No.1 for months. It's also the best thing Zach's made so far. See guys? I don't DESPISE country or anything...)

Tyla - PUSH 2 START [74] (And in other news, South Africa's finest is still very much known for Water and nothing else outside of the Afrobeat community. This single isn't gonna change that I'm afraid.)

Don Toliver - No Pole [82] (A song from the deluxe version of his 2023 album goes on viral on TikTok. Nuff said really.)

Lola Young - Messy [87] (Took you long enough to have Top 100 success. Even though it feels like a boygenius B-side to my ears.)

PARTYNEXTDOOR - Dreamin [88] (This is Drake album filler, which is probably the worst criticism you give a trap song in 2024.)

Jazzy/KILIMANJARO - No Bad Vibes [94] (Ireland's answer to Becky Hill desperately attempts to hang out with Adam Port. The results are grim, let me tell you.)

SIENNA SPIRO - MAYBE. [100] (If you told me that this first apperance for the latest balladeer to give us headaches was on the new John Lewis ad, I'd probably believe you. Shame some creep called Sam Clegg is there instead.)

Farewell for now pop-pickers.

Who thinks 'All I Want For christmas is you' is overrated?

Not nearly as overrated as Last Christmas.

M

No way, Mariah is much more overrated! The queen of Christmas? NAH!!

I don't go out of my way to listen to Mariah at Christmas (I'm team Pogues and Kirsty all the way), but I'd rather hear her than Wham, it's too mournful for the most wonderful time of the year.

M

Respect that opinion and the Kirsty one to, I like a good mix of Christmas songs, old and new!

Conflicted about Labour being back in the top 40. Of course it's quite sad that the things happened that led to it climbing the chart again. However it's also nice that people use this song to cope with an uncertain future especially in the States.

And how is Austin back again? This song just won't stop coming back!

M

Did Paris make money off the song 'Labour?

To answer that Dasha-related question? Incredibly stale week, my amigo. Also it's very much still in the upper regions of the streaming charts, so you're just gonna have to live with the consequences of that song re-entering. AGAIN.

I’m sorry, but ‘Nice To Meet You’ is nowhere near on the same level as ‘Stargazing’. The latter did have to grow on me though so hoping the former can do the same. ‘The Days’ unfortunately underwhelmed me on my first listen of it earlier today.

I love the return of ‘Labour’ as mentioned earlier, the second run for ‘Close To You’ is fine and I guess I don’t mind ‘Love Somebody’ rebounding with it. ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ is a good song but I stand by its return to the Top 40 being premature.

‘Austin’ is okay but there’s no reason for it to come back yet again and there's certainly no need for 'Stick Season' to rebound several places… 😩

Shame to see ‘Apple’ on ACR and therefore out of the chart, but hey, at least ‘Embrace It’ got hit with it and is nearly gone completely.

‘Casual’ is definitely heading in the right direction! Would be amazing to see it in the Top 40 in the New Year as it’s definitely among Chappell’s best work to date.

Hopefully ‘Oscar Winning Tears’ can do the same for RAYE now that it’s officially being pushed as a single! 😊

Good to see ‘Last Night’s Mascara’ among the debuts even if I was hoping it would be much higher.

I can’t believe Griff has only had one Top 40 hit to date. She’s incredibly underrated and deserves so much better.

Yeah, griff is good

I absolutely love seeing ‘Labour’ with a new peak today. Not only is it a fantastic empowerment anthem but the message behind it has become so important in the US after last week’s events. Standing in solidarity with all American women right now! ❤️

Congratulations to Billie on her fifth song to enter the Top 10 this year! ‘Wildflower’ also becomes the fourth track from her latest album to achieve this milestone.

Also, Teddy Swims has been on a roll lately! He got ‘The Door’ in the region last week, now he’s there with ‘Bad Dreams’ this week. :)
