Idk if its in a good way or bad way but still

I wouldn't consider it to be in a hateful way but I think it's about desire and things deemed unacceptable by like an extreme religious family.

avatar

mrstarling

2

As a Christian I totally think that so many Christians are strict and that is a issue that needs to be spoken about today. It's just sad that the majority of artists just hate on jesus instead of speaking out about the necessary things. I'm not saying all do that but a lot do.

avatar

1

There are actually people out there who care about Bhad Bhabie's diss battle.

How sad.

I'm pleased to say that I'm not one of them.

I could tell, you seem like a person with common sense rather then the 10 year olds drooling on there tablet and making edits on it.

Also hoping Louise love me more gets in to the charts next week Defin her best tracks in over 10 years !

yay! sleep token managed to remain in the top 20 after all. it’s actually not doing too bad, i can see it lasting another week in the top 40 tbh.

just wish architects and spiritbox got their flowers on the singles charts too. but i guess having sleep token is better than having falling in reverse tho!

A

Actually something different and fresh I think it will go top ten :)

1

I think the sales held up very well for it throughout the course of the week.

Either way, it's good to see something different and refreshing in the Top 20.

The new Jack Harlow and Doja Cat collab is a step down from the both of them.

jack harlow can rap, and that 2023 album was proof. it’s just a shame he only gets a hit when he channels his inner vanilla ice and is corny for a whole track

avatar

mrstarling

1

@noodle

BOOM! THERE! you said it perfectly Noodle.

His 2023 album was almost perfect but the rest of his virality is just mostly trash.

avatar

2

Only just noticed that Oscar Winning Tears has spent 20 weeks charting! I didn't think it would last that long.

Disappointed to see all of Kendrick’s entries on ACR this week. That being said, he had an absolutely fantastic run after the Super Bowl, especially the resurgence for ‘All The Stars’. Shame they had to be replaced by three underwhelming Carti tracks, although ‘Rather Lie’ is at least a much better collab with The Weeknd than ‘Timeless’ was.

Outside of that… a six-and-a-half-minute metal song charting in the Top 20 was certainly not on my bingo card for the year. Despite it not being a genre I listen to that often, I actually liked ‘Emergence’ a fair bit, especially the way in which the song develops and then fades into the more mellow outro.

The metal song was odd and ok, I don't get why it charted though.

H

haz_mcr

1

Yh I agree, I would have wanted Kendrick instead of Carti… but like I said before atleast this proves rap is not in the mud just yet. There’s still a market for it. You can say Kendrick got big in 2024 but that’s just because he dissed Drake, plus there wasn’t nothing notable at all until Central Cee’s album got to the number 1 spot. Anyway, I agree Rather Lie is better than Timeless.

Kendrick > carti

Again jade only managed to get in at 25 ! What is going on !

Carti dropped! Even tho it’s not the best of albums, at least he’s doing rap justice. And also: Toxic charted! Big up the boy Skepta, I’m glad this man is getting his flowers on the global stage first featuring on Central Cee’s album CRG and now with Playboi Carti.

avatar

mrstarling

1

I dont get the hype over these things- I just see rap rubbish and then art.

You can like what you like though, Cench has made some good songs

H

haz_mcr

0

The vendetta against rap is mad, but you can’t win them all ig. Like you said: you like what you like. But I agree, you can call it rubbish when Carti is the face of it

avatar

mrstarling

2

I just don't get what's so special about Carti.

H

haz_mcr

Nah I agree, Carti isn’t that good he just got carried by his features. But atleast it’s something.

avatar

itsnoodleszn_

1

rap has been done justice already, thanks to kendrick, doechii and tyler  scoring a few hits off their recent projects

avatar

mrstarling

2

@noodle

Kendrick, doechii and Tyler are the big 3.

They are all goated.

H

haz_mcr

0

I wouldn’t really count Doechii as a rapper unfortunately and even if she was to be I unfortunately don’t see the hype. Thats not me hating on her it’s just I’m not really a fan. Agree with Tyler and Kendrick tho, however Kendrick was more off the back of that Drake diss and Super Bowl performance a guarantee he wouldn’t be as big otherwise. But as a whole rap has been underwhelming.

avatar

mrstarling

2

Doechii is goated.

Ordinary sounds like the type of song to peak at 55 and go out after 3 weeks... why the heck is this rubbish no 1??

A

amji786

-2

Just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s not good ! I love it !

avatar

mrstarling

2

No song can be officially classed as good.

Music is subjective.

H

haz_mcr

-1

Big up Alex Warren man. Even tho ‘Ordinary’ is not my typical cup of tea, I see the hype and I’m just glad new artists are getting their flowers that they deserve.

avatar

mrstarling

2

He doesn't deserve the flowers for it.

H

haz_mcr

0

Don’t see why I’m getting disliked for this. Every new artist who has been working hard deserves the number 1… whether it’s Chappell Roan, Alex Warren, Gigi Perez… don’t mean the song is a good representation of it but the dislikes on this are mad

A

amji786

-1

Yes he does !

avatar

mrstarling

1

That's a insane take.

So you are saying someone could make absolute anything and because they worked hard you would support them going number one?

H

haz_mcr

-1

Didn’t say that. I said Ordinary wasn’t a good representation of him however anyone with talent deserves to go number 1

avatar

mrstarling

1

You said every artist who worked hard deserves to go no.1

That means no matter how bad music sounds you will support it going no.1 (and I'm sure all artists work hard and they say they do)

E

Ordinary is awful

For anyone wondering, ‘Hometown Glory’ seems to have gone viral on TikTok, hence its first Top 40 appearance since August 2008.

I think Adele has better classics but definitely not complaining about it. :)

avatar

itsnoodleszn_

1

i made my comment and didn’t see this 💀 it’s one of my favs by her tho

avatar

No worries! I thought the specific reason behind its TikTok virality was very sweet.

avatar

Piran

3

Well done to JADE on her second Top 40 hit!

With ‘FUFN’, I love the slinkier verses that build into an explosive hook. She’s proving yet again that she absolutely has the charisma to make it big as a solo popstar.

Hoping we get an album announcement very soon! 😊

avatar

mrstarling

1

I dont like it

A

amji786

0

Def Her best song so far but should have been top ten !

avatar

Piran

1

I still prefer 'Angel Of My Dreams' and 'It Girl' but this definitely came close. The hook has been stuck in my head all week!

avatar

Piran

3

I knew ‘The Giver’ wasn’t going to hold onto the top spot given that it fell a lot on Spotify throughout the week. I certainly would’ve taken it over what we actually got at the summit, but oh well.

Honestly, I prefer Chappell’s other hits but it’s interesting to see her try something different. I respect it when an artist steps outside of their comfort zone and explores new genres!

Calvin also experimented with country music this week, which I’m sadly a lot less enthusiastic about. I’m sorry, but ‘Smoke The Pain Away’ just didn’t work for me at all. The vocals completely ruined it.

avatar

mrstarling

2

Yeah, Calvin took a turn in the wrong direction.

avatar

mrstarling

0

I dont get the hype on the new haim song.

avatar

Piran

5

‘Ordinary’ is a disappointing #1 tbh. There’s just nothing about it that stands out to me.

avatar

mrstarling

1

Agreed, it's one of the worst songs to ever hit number one imo

avatar

1

I wouldn't go that far but it's definitely the weakest of 2025 so far.

ever?? its not the most forward thinking song but savage love and swagger jagger exist?

I agree

Maybe a bit of a stretch, there was loads of awful stuff in the late 90s that all hit #1 (Take that, boyzone, five, westlife), all boybands. But tbf there's a lot of recent stuff just as bad

I rarely follow the charts back then so I'm basing this off what I know. (I started checking the charts in 2022)
