It's April and I get quite excited because some summer dance hits should hopefully chart... you know, the ones you danced to on holiday in Spain. I love it, and hope we have a good one. I need to book those Ibiza tickets soon :)

Let's just hope that David Guetta doesn't come to ibiza.

Oh do you know what, he IS! Would you go and see Calvin Harris? We are probably going to be there during at least one of his sets.

😭😭😭.

I would see Calvin harris though, apart from his newest single he's pretty good!

I agree! I think Smoke the Pain Away is a bit weak. I loved his early electro singles. And I think 'Summer' is my fave!

Supposedly around half of a year of the billboard year end Is done and it's the exact same songs as last year...

Billboard STINKS.

avatar

Piran

2

You could've ended that sentence at "done" and that last part would still be true.

Who in their right mind starts the tracking year in the middle of October?

Billboard are making me mad... that isn't the only thing there doing wrong.

I start mine the week after halloween 😅

I do it so all the christmas music is at the start of the tracking year. this way, when I'm reviewing the year's charting songs, I get to listen to any christmas songs during the christmas season, rather than in january

Such a shame this week’s NMF was so much worse than last week’s. However, I still do have a couple of recommendations!

- Heartstrings by Disrupta, goddard. & Charlotte Haining

- STARBOUNCE by Nova May

- Alone by MPH & Carla Monroe

- Bad Dreams (HUGEL Remix) by Teddy Swims

For some reason I read GBP as having 12 weeks at #1 😭 Honestly surprised CRG wasn’t a #1 for you, I really liked it and it peaked just outside my top 10. Hope you’ve been doing well as I know the last time we spoke wasn’t great and it’s been a while 😅

H

haz_mcr

3

Yh I’m doing alright yk, I’m glad we can put the past in the past and forget about what happened before.

’GBP’ spent 7 weeks at the top, and the reason why ‘CRG’ didn’t go to number 1 bc being honest, it wasn’t really among my favourites on the album. Not to say it was bad bc it’s still a banger but compared to their other collabs like Sprinter, UK Rap and Trojan Horse this just felt like a Our 25th Birthday to me.

avatar

macie

2

I am too! We’ve both matured a lot since then.

Yeah not surprised by that haha, but fair enough! I didn’t check out the album because I’ve never been the biggest fan of Cench but GBP is decent and CRG is pretty good imo. I prefer it to their other collabs if anything but I don’t hate Sprinter anymore 😅

H

haz_mcr

For you, I recommend you check out ‘Gata’ with Young Miko as I think you would like that. For me, Cench didn’t miss on this album which is important for a debut album.

I don't like that 'Ordinary' tied for the longest-running #1 of the year so far and that 'Beautiful Things' is still lingering around, but this was a really good Top 10 other than that.

I also love all four songs you ranked further down the chart too!

HOW REFRESHING to see someone here with really good taste. Could talk to you for hours about records, judging by your chart there. Big fan of The Smiths. I don't know if they did ANY bad songs. I've been getting back into 'Ask' a lot lately. I'm a big fan of the more experimental ones too like Meat Is Murder. Fab to see you have some Spandau and Gary Numan in there. My main love is synth-pop but I also collect post punk and a lot of the stuff around C86. All on vinyl of course, 15000 vinyls and counting!

avatar

strangeways_here_we_come

Love to see someone with a similar music taste to mine. Yes the smiths are my fav band, have been for a year or so. I love most of their songs, ask is brilliant, meat is murder not to keen on lol but I adore the album. Spandau Ballet are good, have the best of on CD, and I love a bit of gary numan, genius. Synth pop is brilliant. Depeche Mode, OMD, Ultravox, Human League, Tears for fears, PSB I all love, post-punk as well with The Cure, Joy Division, New Order, Bauhaus, Wasted Youth etc. I love lots of britpop stuff too. And wow 15,00 records? You must have a brilliant collection

Ik I was slating Ed last week for ‘Azizam’ but honestly it was one of the best new entries this week. I wouldn’t have minded it knocking off Alex Warren’s ‘Ordinary’ off the top spot. I’m sure it will get there eventually.

It’s a shame to see ‘Abracadabra’ get hit by ACR this early… 😔

Oh well, at least the new arrivals and returns were generally solid this week. A bit disappointed that The Marías’ and Laufey’s new singles failed to chart though.

‘Twilight Zone’ grew on me in particular thanks to how much it reminds me of ‘We Can’t Be Friends’.

I didn't come back to the comments section for a day or two and in little time h*ll broke loose.

That’s two weeks in a row where we’ve had an “end of the world” song debut on the chart. We had Ariana last week and Miley this week. They nearly debuted in the same position as well… 😳

Anyway, I’m not complaining about it at all. I’ve been enjoying both of these songs a lot.
