Its been said that 2013, 2014 and 1989 were the best years for new music ever. Does anyone agree with this?

M

mrstarling

1

Not me.

M

I`m glad to have Pink Pony Club as number 1. It`s probably the better of Chappel Roan`s songs and the first number 1 I`ve liked somewhat in a few years.

My favourite songs this week

Myles Smith- nice to meet you (glad to have some British artists in the charts)

Benson Boone- beautiful things

Teddy swims- bad dreams

SZA and Kendrick Lamar- all the stars- I`m sure this isn`t a new entry I distinctively remember this from about five or six years ago.

Why hasn`t Ezra Collective I`ve been watching you got into the charts yet?

And I just wish Sabrina Carpenter`s bedchem (one of the worst songs I`ve ever heard in my 20 years alive) would get out the charts. I actually don`t mind Espresso as much, its annoying and overplayed last year, but this other song, Sabrina doesn`t even bother singing, just wails about goodness knows what. but I still prefer Taylor Swift to Sabrina Carpenter.

And maybe it would be good if we had more British music in the charts. And dance music is a genre there hasn`t been much of in the last couple of years. Remember 2013-2014 when there was loads of dance music.

M

mrstarling

That's a good collection of songs you have there!

pink pony club is such a refreshing number 1. if sailor song was that queer chart-topper about queer romance, this is the one that encourages freedom to be yourself no matter what. we needed a number 1 with content like this in a time where anti-lgbtq+ ideology is ruining her home country.

avatar

itsnoodleszn_

-1

like him deserved so much better than number 30. its just a perfect song in every sense of the word. the production is laidback and incredible, tyler’s got a soulful vocal approach, lola’s backing vocals are incredible, and the lyrics are so emotional. i feel like where early in his career tyler was angry at his dad for not being present in his life, he’s looking at it from a more emotional perspective and his mother admits it’s her fault.

it deserved better than number 30. so much better. and i’m counting down the seconds till i hear this (and a lot of tyler’s hits) live in may.

Who on earth is myles smith, and whys he shot up about 50 places?

M

He's up because of the Brit's.

And he's a male pop star who broke through with his song stargazing in 2024, he's a really bland and generic artist though.

I wasn’t expecting such a big jump for ‘Nice To Meet You’… shame I'm not a fan of it at all. Oh well, at least ‘Revolving Door’ hit a new peak and ‘Timeless’ got took out by ACR.

Congrats to Olivia Dean on her second appearance in the region and her first outside of Christmas! I hear her a lot on Radio 1 but always thought she deserved more success, so glad to see ‘It Isn’t Perfect But It Might Be’ and ‘Dive’ rising up the chart. :)

You always seem to mention how people downvote my comments so you obviously do care.

B

BettyBoop3

-4

Only AFTER you keep crying about receiving them and how much you're hated on here. I've never cared if anyone upvotes of downvotes me because it's completely irrelevant to me and always has been.

You however create multiple accounts to upvote yourself and downvote people you dislike. It's pathetic.

M

mrstarling

2

Bla bla bla you can't even prove I have multiple active accounts.

Anyways, I've had enough of my Fridays fighting you and I don't want others to have the comments section ruined over you so I'm gonna head on out early.

Have a nice week Betty!

B

BettyBoop3

-4

Er, yes I can. Anything more than one account are "multiple", and you've admitted to having more than one account on here within the last few weeks.

You had enough of my fighting, yet you're the one who caused it in the first place. I mean, this is a fresh week and you started again over a meaningless comment like "Down she goes".  Time to grow up, love.  I won't wish you a nice week either, because we all know you'll be back to harrassing me again soon enough.

betty i like lady gaga and that song and am on your side. you have freedom to not like her lol

and you’re so real about the downvoting part, i don’t even give out votes because they’re meaningless numbers that people on here worry about too much. and i think these people know who they are, but that’s a story for another day. this whole comments section is so clique-y.

M

mrstarling

0

@noodle

Problem is that the lady gaga comments are coming week after week repeatedly.

B

BettyBoop3

-2

Lovely to see you again, Noodle.

I agree with you 100%. We all have the freedom to like and dislike whoever we want. Nobody says anything when he trashes other artists, so I don't get why it's fine for him to upset certain fanbases while expecting others to respect his fandom.

The thing is I don't mind Lady Gaga and quite like the new album, tbh.

I just find it funny how the pitchforks come out whenever she receives the slightest bit of negative criticism. Look at the way he behaved over my comment, very OTT and it comes across as quite unhinged. lol.

Yeah, this place is very clique-y, but there again, maybe it's him using multiple accounts to chat, up/down vote and agree with himself. I've thought that for quite some time lol

B

BettyBoop3

-3

@T u r d

No they aren't. I didn't mention her name last week, and I didn't this week either (until Noodle), but what if I did? Is there some god given rule where Lady Gaga is exempt from negative criticism on the OCC forums?

I find you putting other artists down highly annoying, but you don't see me crying over it.

Besides, I thought you said you weren't a fan, so that was clearly another lie.

Eh, the solo version of ‘Anxiety’ with just Doechii that got released a couple of days ago is so much better.

She sounds amazing both rapping and singing on it, which only further highlights her versatility as an artist! The lyrics are very relatable too, especially in recent days.

She even got me to like a ‘Somebody That I Used To Know’ sample, which is impressive given that I could never get on board with the original.
