The 40- Top 10

As you know, I have been compiling Top 40 Charts since July 2015. 2025 has been a rather strange year for my chart as most songs apart from Abracadabra, Messy & Zombieboy have only spent 1 week at the top of the chart. I wonder if that will change in the summer. Anyway here is my top 10 for this week.

  1. Charli xcx ft. Billie Eilish- Guess UP 5 | PEAK: 1 | WoC: 8
  2. JADE- FUFN UP 1 | PEAK: 2 RETURN TO PEAK | WoC: 6
  3. Alex Warren- Ordinary DOWN 1 | PEAK: 2 | WoC: 3
  4. Lady Gaga- Zombieboy NO CHANGE | PEAK: 1 | WoC: 7
  5. Shaboozey ft. Myles Smith- Blink Twice NEW | PEAK: 5 | WoC: 1
  6. Lady Gaga- AbracadabraDOWN 6 | PEAK: 1 | WoC: 11
  7. Chappel Roan- The Giver UP 2 | PEAK: 1 | WoC: 5
  8. Myles Smith- Nice To Meet You DOWN 1 | PEAK: 7 | WoC: 3
  9. Ed Sheeran- Azizam DOWN 3 | PEAK: 4 | WoC: 3
  10. Doechii- Anxiety UP 23 | PEAK: 10 | WoC: 2

So funny to see that Woman and her god awful new album hasn't done f * c k all on the UK chart after the Coachella performance, despite the heavy promo and payola. lol

i’m not gonna lie to you starling despite not liking him overall he has a few good songs to me, though those songs are from his earlier work. heck, i even liked rather lie off that music album too, and i think cocaine nose would be a better song if someone like denzel curry rapped over the beat instead.

M

@Noodle

I hated MUSIC but I do think the album had a good start, it just got really tiring after.

Oh, and Denzel is great, I think he could've gave something good on MUSIC to.

Idk how to feel about Lizzy McAlpine.

On one hand, 'Five Seconds Flat' was one of my favourite albums of 2022, but on the other hand, I found 'Older' to be really underwhelming.

M

mrstarling

0

I admit she has her ups and downs but listening to her on autoplay felt so relaxing.

I LOVE LIZZY MCALPINE!!! she’s doing the whole sad girl pop stuff a lot better and a lot more maturer than some of her other peers. older was one of my favourite pop albums of 2024 too

Im so glad she had her viral moment with ceilings but really sad that he hasn't returned to the spotlight.

Extremely dry week this week, this is the first time in ages where I’ve willingly not listened to the chart in a long time, maybe because it is not in the best way in terms of how I like it but Teddy Swims back in the chart, really? Only good thing to say is that WizTheMC is slowly going up.

It's likely another Oasis re-entry is to happen next week as they've re-released their 1995 #1 single Some Might Say. It's likely they're gonna do this with most of their discography seeing the 7" re-releases of Supersonic & Whatever previously. I couldn't care less about the re-releases all I want is new music from them but let's face it the minute they step on stage during the reunion tour I can picture a giant argument

M

mrstarling

2

The re releases are also getting extremely sickening. All they do is talk rubbish and re release.

avatar

strangeways_here_we_come

2

They could at least make the effort to make new music (like literally every other band in the 90s that are still making music) but no. I think this whole thing is a cash grab to be honest classic gallagher brother behaviour. When a band reaches that level of success e.g the beatles, afterwards they are in on it, re-issue, re-release etc. With the popularity of vinyl at the minute I imagine more to cone

M

mrstarling

2

They only announced a tour and went viral... imagine what the actual tour will do 😅

Top 5 re-entry probably if not #1

If they touch the number one spot then I'm going mental.

Disappointed that ‘End Of The World’ has left the Top 40 already. I expected it to stick around for a bit longer than it did.

On a more positive note, ‘Blink Twice’ actually gaining off the debut is a very promising sign! Hopefully it can enter the region next week, especially with the deluxe edition of Shaboozey's album being released today.

After two weeks of New Music Friday being fairly uneventful, I can thankfully say this one was a lot more interesting and generally very good!

Hopefully the new releases from Lorde, PinkPantheress and Sam Fender will do reasonably well here next week. I would say the same for Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Lauren Spencer-Smith but I sadly don’t think either of them have a chance.

I really liked a lot of the new releases from last week. Addison Rae did chart quite well - unfortunately Purple Disco Machine & Alison Goldfrapp did not chart, even though it is a fantastic song.

From the songs landed today, I really like the new one from Zara Larsson. Lorde may need some further listens, but I was not that impressed of it.

Man, this was such a boring week. Only one new arrival the whole of the Top 40.

Not sure why ‘Shake It To The Max’ is becoming a hit either. I really don’t get the appeal to it.

'It's Amazing To Be Young' thankfully came back at #89, although I'm surprised that 'Favourite' hasn't returned yet. It reached a new peak in Ireland today and is currently on its 20th week in the chart in their homeland.

strangeways you just need to look at how much romance sold. even if fdc won’t get a charting single for a while (they appeal more to 6music dads than pop heads), you can see how much they’ve pulled from that album. it’s like tame impala’s currents - album sold a lot and was acclaimed by critics and audiences, but even its biggest song (the less i know the better) didn’t chart top 40

avatar

Piran

5

It’s a shame that ‘Henry, Come On’ took such a big second week drop but at least Lana charted another song this week. Really excited for that upcoming album!

‘Show Me Love’ entering the Top 5 is a massive win! The song grew on me even more thanks to the Tyla remix that dropped last week. :)
