Linkin Park's The Emptiness Machine challenges Sabrina Carpenter's Taste for UK's Number 1 song
Back with a new line-up and their first material in seven years, could Linkin Park claim a career-best this week?

Linkin Park challenge Sabrina Carpenter for this week’s Official Number 1 single with The Emptiness Machine.
With a new line-up comprising Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Phoenix, Joe Hahn, alongside new members Emily Armstrong as co-vocalist and Colin Brittain as drummer, it’s the group’s first new material in seven years, and first without former vocalist Chester Bennington following his death in 2017. The Emptiness Machine looks to land this week’s highest new entry at Number 2. Should it hold on, it’d earn Linkin Park a career-best, the band having previously peaked at Number 6 with 2007 single What I’ve Done.
The unstoppable Sabrina Carpenter is set to score a third consecutive week at the summit, with third Short n’ Sweet single Taste currently leading the pack.
Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’s soaring ballad Die With A Smile is on track to break into the Top 5 for the first time this week, expected to lift two (5).
Summer isn’t over just yet, as Sonny Fodera, Jazzy and D.O.D’s dance smash Somedays aims for a brand-new peak, predicted to jump six into the Top 10 (9).
Coldplay’s latest Moon Music single WE PRAY also hopes to reach new highs this week. The group’s team-up with Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI climbs 24 midweek, expected to make its Top 20 debut this Friday (17).

COME ON LINKIN PARK! i know emily’s had a controversial past (an insta mutual told me the gory details), but even though it’s far from their best the song’s still great. i honestly feel like if it didn’t have the linkin park name attached, it would get more acclaim. but it would still be SO nice to see rock music at the top for a change <3 🤘

'Austin' going on ACR felt like forever. As for 'KEHLANI' never liked it so not much of a loss for me.
I was saddened when I saw 'BIRDS OF A FEATHER' hit ACR. I was rooting for it to hit Number 1 for a while but it was going to happen eventually.
No surprise 'WE PRAY' is in the Top 20 as of right now. Definitely the physicals helping push it.
I hope the Oasis hype carries on to wind down as I don't want it to bombard three spots off songs that haven't hit the Top 40 yet.
Glad 'Somedays' is getting pushed but hope it doesn't slip out the Top 10 again.
I don't think Linkin Park will be stable and it will likely fall out the Top 10 by Friday, but I will be shocked if it remains in the region. Song sounds fairly inoffensive but nothing groundbreaking.
Regarding Radio 1 counting it down today, how on earth did they end up playing 'Kisses' on top of itself for a good minute until they cut it off? They also nearly ended up playing 'Die With A Smile' again when it should've been 'Espresso' but luckily they noticed.

Well it had two down votes so I upvoted it myself since whoever is behind it lacks in the debate skill department. It's a simple case of they don't like something and their instinct is to hit a button to remove the physical response of not pressing it.
