Eminem aiming for 11th Number 1 single with Houdini
The return of Slim Shady could dominate the Singles Chart this week.

Rap superstar Eminem is currently on track to secure his 11th UK Number 1 single, and first in four years. Surprise drop Houdini gains a healthy lead ahead of Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso, and is predicted to debut atop the Official Singles Chart come Friday.
Responsible for some of modern rap’s most iconic tracks, Eminem last topped the Official Singles Chart in 2020 with Godzilla featuring the late Juice WRLD. Houdini sees the return of his alter-ego Slim Shady, and precedes a new album due later this summer.
To date, Eminem has gained 10 UK Number 1 singles. In order, they are; The Real Slim Shady (2000), Stan (2000), Without Me (2002), Lose Yourself (2002), Just Lose It (2004), Like Toy Soldiers (2005), Smack That with Akon (2006), The Monster with Rihanna (2013), River with Ed Sheeran (2017) and Godzilla with Juice Wrld (2020).
After celebrating his first ever UK Top 10 single last week with Stargazing, Myles Smith could move up to a brand-new peak of Number 8.

You're taking this out of context. I'm trans myself and while the lyrics are very oddly worded, I wasn't offended by it because I know Eminem was poking fun at his 2002 alter ego rather than specifically attacking the LGBTQ+ community (his upcoming LP is literally called 'The Death of Slim Shady (Coup de Grâce)') and how even self-mockery of his old persona will be blown out of proportion into controversy which we've already seen an example of here tonight. J Cole's 'Pi' lyrics, on the other hand, portrayed trans people is a very negative and insulting way in a song that was meant to be taken seriously, whereas 'Houdini' clearly isn't... even if that Megan Thee Stallion line was totally uncalled for.

@mrstarling i heard the song and i would have took offense, however this is slim shady we’re talking about, he was designed to shock. i mean, in his early 2000s music, he would constantly drop the cigarette slur, but eminem said many times he wasn’t using it in a homophobic manner.
besides, em is good friends with elton john, and there’s a hilarious story about em giving elton and his husband a gift for their marriage (prolly not gonna say what it is here), which shows you how homophobic he isn’t.
meanwhile, j cole used trans people as a punchline, and that song was meant to be taken seriously. and he’s yet to apologise for it
