Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber's Despacito wins close battle to score 11th week at Number 1
It seems there’s no stopping Despacito – the track has fought off some strong competition to claim another week at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart.
The Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee and Justin Bieber track logs a 11th week in pole position and is now one of the UK’s longest-reigning chart toppers of all time.
Only six songs in the Official Charts’s 65-year history have spent longer at Number 1, while the only other songs to manage 11 weeks at the summit is Rose Marie by US country singer Slim Whitman in 1955. Find out which songs have spent the longest at Number 1 in the UK here.

i gotta say to the official charts: i think this '3 song limit' rule is just a pile of ****!! so what that ed locked the top 20, it ain't his fault he had the highest sales and streams figures for that week. so when it's the anniversary of george michael's passing this xmas...he can only have 3 songs on the entire chart? or maybe 6 total with 3 more with wham?? and yet, that's robbing his legacy of achieving historical feats! music charts are supposed to be objective and give every song a fair chance @ the rankings, right? so what if george michael had the 50 top selling songs for that week? it's his fault he was the top artist for that week? but yet, you'll only give him no more than possibly 6 entries??
i say go back to the original charting methods and whoever has the highest streaming and sales rightfully gets and earns the top spots. and if anyone complains, so what! then they should've done better ;)
