Considering it’s been 16 years since he passed away, coupled with how clearly deviant he was, Michael Jackson can still cruise into the Top 40 purely because it’s Halloween? Not sure what I think of that to be honest.

The worst song of the year back to the top again...

A disgrace to see that song at the top again. Animation has no place on the charts! I have only ever begrudgingly heard it on Strictly and in no other context! Taylor, RAYE or Olivia Dean deserve it more than this!

Disappointed to see 'Fort Knox' completely miss the chart.

'Die On This Hill' deserved to rise this week. A beautiful song.

Would loved to have seen 'Tears' by Sabrina make more of an impact but oh well.

Atleast Mariah is back soon.

Why do so many artists in the top ten have multiple songs in there all of a sudden?!

avatar

the40

2

Since August, there has definitely been more emphasis on albums (Sabrina, Ed, JADE, Olivia, Taylor etc.) The only really notable single release that's not part of an album (yet) is RAYE. So I guess it is easier for artists to have multiple appearances.

Honestly, when I look at the Top 10, it feels more like an albums chart than a singles chart.

As Dave & Jim Legxacy's 'No Weapons' dethrones Jim Legxacy & Dave's '3x' on my charts this week, it becomes just the 3rd time in my 8+ year chart history that 2 artists have replaced themselves at #1 simultaneously, following Metro Boomin & Don Toliver in 2022 and Dave & Tiakola in 2023. It marks Dave's 33rd and Jim Legxacy's 2nd #1.

'The Boy Who Played the Harp' occupies all of the Top 10 on singles and becomes Dave's 3rd #1 on albums. Dave himself becomes the 1st artist to ever hold the Top 5 simultaneously on albums, and the 1st to hold the entire Top 40 simultaneously as a lead artist on singles (Dave also previously held the Top 40 upon the release of his last album, but as a feature on some tracks).

With 753 streams, Dave's latest album gets the most 1st-week streams of any album ever for me.

My Top 20:

1) Dave ft. Jim Legxacy - 'No Weapons' (Debut) [1st week at #1]
2) Dave - 'The Boy Who Played the Harp' (Debut)
3) Dave ft. Tems - 'Raindance' (Debut)
4) Dave ft. James Blake - 'History' (Debut)
5) Dave - 'Marvellous' (Debut)
6) Dave - 'My 27th Birthday' (Debut)
7) Dave ft. Kano - 'Chapter 16' (Debut)
8) Dave ft. James Blake - 'Selfish' (Debut)
9) Dave ft. Nicole Blakk - 'Fairchild' (Debut)
10) Dave - '175 Months' (Debut)
11) Dave - 'Survivor's Guilt' (-7) [7-week #1]
12) Dave ft. Ruelle - 'Lesley' (=) [8-week #1]
13) Dave - 'Screwface Capital' (-4) [1-week #1]
14) Dave - 'We're All Alone' (=) [2-week #1]
15) Dave - 'Psycho' (+3)
16) Dave ft. Wizkid - 'System' (+5) [3-week #1]
17) Dave ft. James Blake - 'Both Sides Of A Smile' (+15) [2-week #1]
18) Dave - 'Streatham' (Re)
19) Dave - 'Heart Attack' (Re) [4-week #1]
20) Dave ft. Burna Boy - 'Location' (Re) [1-week #1]

Albums:

1) Dave - 'The Boy Who Played the Harp' (Debut) [1st week at #1]
2) Dave - 'We're All Alone In This Together' (=) [66-week #1]
3) Dave - 'PSYCHODRAMA' (+1) [9-week #1]
4) Dave - 'Game Over' (+2)
5) Dave - 'Six Paths' (+2)

Hmm... not enough Dave in the chart for my liking.

In all seriousness, those stats are certainly impressive! Glad to see 'No Weapons' at #1 as it was my second favourite track on the album.

Believe it or not, this is the first time that ‘Beautiful Things’ is out of the Top 40 since the beginning of February. Good riddance to it and I hope it doesn’t come back.

Because of Halloween falling on a Friday, we'll probably see two smaller takeovers instead of a bigger one. ‘Dracula’ seems to have fallen off a bit after the album boost so hopefully it rebounds next week.

Forgot to say this last week but I’m very happy that ‘Bittersweet’ is in the chart! It’s always surprised me how Madison Beer isn’t a much bigger artist. Excited for the album in January based on the singles.

Disappointed that Sigrid didn’t show up with anything from this era though. The UK are sleeping on her yet again. :(

Shame to see ‘Jealous Type’ and ‘Sugar On My Tongue’ both on ACR this early.

Looks like ‘So Easy’ is the only solo entry by Olivia Dean that didn’t get hit. Would be cool to see it reach the Top 5 before the holiday songs come in.

Three Top 20 entries for Dave is impressive when you consider how much this album leans towards storytelling and a deeper reflection of his personal life.

Anyway, it’s good to see him back in the charts. Would’ve been even better if ‘My 27th Birthday’ and ‘No Weapons’ both made it as they’re the highlights for me but I’ll definitely take what we got.

Wasn’t expecting to see ‘The Fate Of Ophelia’ off the top spot after three weeks given all the records it broke. I think ‘Golden’ has spent enough time at #1 now.

For as much as I like Taylor and K-Pop Demon Hunters, I’ll be rooting for RAYE to get there. Glad to see ‘Where Is My Husband!’ back in the Top 3 and returning to its peak. :)

On the topic of Taylor, just a quick reminder that after finding out that 'Golden' was set to knock her off the No.1 she released a remix of TFOO and now she's set to stay at number one in the US. It's so pathetic how she cheats the system.

When she has the amount of fans she has. It's a no brainer. Ophelia is a Bop tbh
