Yet another crazy landmark for Mr Brightside: this is still only its 15th ever week in the Top 40, out of its record 527 on the Top 100... yet it has now spent more weeks in the Top 40 since late July (8 – out of 14 in a row where it's not dipped below no.45) than it had in its entire 22-year chart life beforehand (7 – 3 in May/June 2004, 3 at Christmas/New Year 2013-14, 1 at New Year 2024).

Even weirder little factoid: until three months ago, it had only ever spent a single week inside the Top 40 that fell wholly within a year not ending in a 4: that of 22nd-28th December 2013.

i have never seen the charts to look so bad some artists have 3 or 4 song in the top 40 charts need changing

Yikes 2 consecutive weeks without a new top ten single, ACR has never felt more useless.

jheez that is a dismal top 3 

It is odd that some songs have very small drops of decline with no increases over 3 or more weeks and haven't fallen onto acr is ridiculous. Is it a certain percentage drop? 

Opalite came back in with acr reset? But on week 2 decline? You know 3 songs rule are confusing with songs like acr reseted by enter back 2 weeks after the reset. 

But rip babylon & Cleveland and the chances of pink cloudy charting.

A bit of poor timing for p!nk to have a resurgence dyt?

TheOCCSucks your favourite is at 39 but wasn't played.

Plus it is 6th on the Dutch charts 

For next week it will either be Jamie Miller, Ashe or Olivia Rodrigo as the big 3 contenders.

The big ACR hits this week were ‘Training Season’, ‘The One That Got Away’ and ‘Talking Body’.

For as much as I like these songs, I’m not too bothered here. All three of them are throwbacks that already had very successful chart runs.

I think he’s got a girl should’ve been top 75 :(

Even if it isn’t my favourite single of hers, it’s amazing to see Slayyyter earn her third chart entry of 2026 so far! That’s a really promising sign for her upcoming album several weeks from now. 

‘Brand New Chanel$’ returning for the first time since the end of August is a welcome surprise too!

So technically the fate of ophelia re-entered off acr a week after originally on week 1 decline right? And is on week 2?

Yikes. ‘Just Give Me A Reason’ going viral now is incredibly awkward timing given the controversy surrounding P!NK in recent weeks.

Fantastic to see ‘Expectations’ climb into the Top 40! The original is one of the standout tracks from one of my favourite albums of the year, and it was definitely the right choice for the next single.

It’ll also get a big boost next week with the Chappell remix, who I thought was a fantastic fit for the song. If it ends up becoming another hit for Olivia, that would be such a good way to end the year.

I thought Taylor was done with the ‘Patient Zero’ promo after releasing physicals for two weeks in a row, but apparently not because she just released the piano and acoustic versions of it on streaming.

Anyway, it would be nice to see a new song at the top next week. Jamie Miller seems to be the most likely artist to get there right now, but I wouldn’t rule out Ashe or Olivia Rodrigo going to #1 either.

This is my ranking list for this week's chart. Well it's kinda like a ranking list, except that the "S"... stands for "Sienna".

S TIER

Great Expectation - SIENNA SPIRO [4]: I know I go on and on about this girl, but this is the definition of a true ballad. Haunting, emotion-filled lyrics and melody make this about the only song I can compare to the greatness of Lewis Capaldi's Someone You Loved. I'm so sad I've heard it so much it's getting less special, but SS is the future of pop music.

Die On This Hill - SIENNA SPIRO [11]: So hard to know which of GE and DoTH is a better song. DoTH is more adventurous in the accompaniment, but GE is just an anomaly from the rest of the chart in its sheer brilliance.

PURE - SIENNA SPIRO [28]: Like the other two SS songs. Absolutely unbeatable.

(P.S. SS is amazing and beautiful, apart from for one song. Thanks OCC for having a three-song rule to keep Material Lover out!)

A TIER

Rein Me In - Sam Fender and Olivia Dean [9]: I know, I know. But this song has NEVER got old, after one and a half years in the charts. SF's lyric writing talent has got to be some of the best the modern world has. Personally, I prefer the SF parts so much that the version without OD and only SF is my favourite. In fact, I think that often, SF can write even better melodies than Sienna Spiro. But SS's voice beats SF's in every score for me, which is why this song falls short at A tier.

The Cure - Olivia Rodrigo [8]: Before the newest album, OR was never one of my favourite singers. But besides the overly-literal bridge, this song is utterly brilliant in terms of writing a rock-like tune. Definitely going to be a good name to watch out for as pop evolves.

My Body Isn't Ready - Sombr [10]: Like Olivia Rodrigo, never really liked Sombr's music. But this is a pretty beautiful one.

Sign of the Times - Harry Styles [23]: When I first heard this song, I thought that HS had finally written a good song. But then I looked it up on the internet and discovered that it was actually his FIRST EVER song, and is really fantastic compared to a lot of his others. Lots of emotion and talent went into this song, which is really what I look for in my favourite songs.

Choosin' Texas - Ella Langley [7]: Honestly, this is a vibe! I get why it's been here for so long. Didn't used to be really into country music but this song is a great effort from one of our generation's country leaders. I'm quite sad that Be Her has gone on ACR, which might have even been S tier.

Bloodstream - Alyssa Grace [14]: Not too familiar with AG, but this song is well-written enough that it secures a place in A tier.

B TIER

Ordinary - Alex Warren [27]: Back in 2025, this was one of my favourite songs. But now it's been overplayed into the ground where it's of no interest to me anymore. As a raw song, it's brilliant. But not one of my favourites anymore.

Stupid Song - Olivia Rodrigo [18]: Doesn't compare to The Cure, but still a decent effort. The video in particular is a bit effeminate for me, but the vocals are pretty decent. I also love the cross-referencing between The Cure and this song: "I'm unravelled" / "A thread on your shirt coming undone"

Patient Zero - Taylor Swift [1]: This is the best of TS's new four songs, but still doesn't compare to her older ones.

The Fate Of Ophelia - Taylor Swift [19]: I used to prefer this to Patient Zero, but a bit overplayed for me.

Unwritten - Natasha Bedingfield [40]: Out of all the re-entries, this is one of my favourites. The chorus may be a bit overproduced though.

C TIER

Training Season - Dua Lipa [37]: A decent song from Dua (of whom most songs are pretty bad), particularly in the melody aspect, but it's still a bit synthey and judgmental compared to others.

Willing and Able - Noah Kahan [17]: It's a good song. However, I've not really warmed to songs like this with such dense guitar and less emotion than others. Take Great Expectation, for example. Noah Kahn's songs are strong, but don't give me the same aura that other singers do.

Draw You Out - Noah Kahan [33]: Similar to Willing and Able - it's good, but not necessarily what would go on my playlist.

STOP THE WEDDING! - Ashe [3]: It's decent, but with the excessive amounts of tempo changes and editing, I don't consider this one of the best.

Man I Need - Olivia Dean [12]: This is a hot take, but I think that OD is an incredibly repetitive and dull singer. In fact, I think that RMI was made WORSE by OD joining SF. The second verse's original lyrics were far more heartfelt than OD's pretty basic instrumentation and lyrics. Same goes for this song - it has some decent aspects, but not what I'd look for in a "favourite song".

D TIER

Earrings - Malcolm Todd [16]: Good to see a less-known singer in the top 20, but this song isn't really my style of music.

Babydoll - Jamie Miller [2]: Will only get more repetitive as time goes on. I love to see new artists taking the high positions of the chart but I don't think this'll go on my playlist either.

Loser - Tame Impala [20]: Better than Dracula, but still not what I'd consider a truly well-written song.

E TIER

Good Girl - Cloonee and Prospa [22]: A weirdo dance song in my opinion. Not the one for me.

Boston - STELLA LEFTY [6]: Not original enough in my opinion. I love country music but not a very well-written song with overly-repetitive lyrics.

F TIER

Movin' To The Sun - HUGEL and Ultra Nate [26]: Respect to HUGEL and Ultra Nate for putting some effort into a dance song. But no. Absolutely not. I will NEVER want a song to be even somewhat generated by AI. Additionally, what is the bridge saying? It sounds like a racial slur over and over again. Not a fan whatsoever, but mild respect to HUGEL for putting some level of effort in.

Nicole Kidman - ADELA [5]: No, no, no! It's not music, just noise and a woman screaming. Nicole Kidman herself is a decent person, but what is this abomination of a song related to her?!

That's just my opinion. What do you think?
