SAILOR SONG

Sailor Song is the breakout hit single by US singer-songwriter Gigi Perez, released 26 July 2024.
An aching acoustic ballad, although Sailor Song has been compared to the output of indie musicians Hozier, Bon Iver and The National, it's central queer love singles it out, as Perez fantasizes over a girl who "looks like Anne Hathaway."
An immediate success upon its release, Sailor Song became Perez's first-ever charting song in the UK, and her first to reach the Top 40 of the Official Singles Chart.
By October 2024 Sailor Song had climbed all the way into the Official Singles Chart Top 10, and on 1 November Gigi toppled reigning queen of the Singles Chart Sabrina Carpenter to land her first ever UK Number 1 single.
Reacting to her chart-topping success, Gigi told Official Charts “What the hell? Oh my God, this is amazing! There’s such a big hole in the conversations that we’re having in mainstream music. There’s an entire group of people [the queer community] who need representation. Knowing that Sailor Song is a vessel for that, it’s amazing. Thank you!”
