My personal chart for the week ending September 8, 2024
danielcordell
The entire chart after I started listening to it again is an unstable not correct to the real info Top 10. I only came back to it because of the return of the oldies "but even then I would prefer it be the Heritage/Legendary/Legacy tracks they don't even promote on new music fridays although a lot like more new Fairground Attraction came out this week that you wouldn't even know about because it's not on New Music Friday" rather than the oldies as it's a new music chart.
If people knew about all the new stuff they would give them just as much hits as the classics and they will make it as new music on the chart really for new stuff.
But even then the results of Top 10 are fiddled with a 75M hitter being on the top and a lame 4M track the week before which is even lower at least Taste is more realistic than Backbone at least it was a million units hitter when it was Number 1 when Backbone hit the top it was still on low 3 digit ks plus the sales and downloads probably making it only mid ks until it now got 4M.

I wouldn't say the website is unstable, it's that one person ruining it for everybody else.

Please X3: (5/10) Getting tired of listening to this
Espresso: (8/10) Will always be good but has been too high for too long
Good Luck Babe: (7/10) Unlucky she hasn't got the number one. This could recieve the 'Prada' Treatment and keep getting blocked off of a no1
Birds Of A Feather: (7/10) Relaxing, but needs to go now
Backbone: (9/10) I love my D'n'B and i like Stormzy so this is great
Die With A Smile: (9/10) Was waiting for the Bruno Mars comeback and he didn't disappoint
Live Forever: (6/10) Don't like (Liam?) Gallaghers voice here but the song is in no way bad
Don't Look Back In Anger: (8/10) A timeless classic that is hard to dislike
Kisses: (-10000/10) Absolutely horrible i hate everything about this song burn it immediately
Wonderwall: (8/10) Another classic
Austin: (3/10) I will be jumping for joy if this gets ACRed next week

Kehlani: (8/10) Cool, modern and some bonus points for being local
Apple: (7/10) Just a good song. Nothing to complain about
Move: (8/10) A fun dance track
Slow It Down: (2/10) This is getting worse every day his voice it too harsh

A Bar Song: (7/10) Fun song and i'm glad its had its time
Angel Of My Dreams: (8/10) Best Little Mix return for certain
The Door: (10/10) Absolute masterpiece. I think it would have been higher in the chart if it had gotten popular next year as people may have grown tired of his voice
Sailor Song: (8/10) I like her vocals and the song is quite moving
I Love You I'm Sorry: (6/10) Taylor Swift song sung by a lesser known artist
Stargazing: (7/10) Pretty standard pop. Sounds like something i'd hear on the radio 10 years ago

Beautiful Things: (2/10) Very tired of this song as it has been here for nearly 8 months
Too Sweet: (9/10) Like this song but its being played too much by the radios

so nice to see genesis at the top! i wish i replayed it more, but its still a great song and i feel like its stood the test of time
macie
It really has! I don’t exactly revisit it too much due to newer obsessions but whenever I do it’s like a full experience. I’m so incredibly excited for what she has coming next (we don’t talk about MOI)
Piran
Really good list! Happy that 'Genesis' took the #1. :)

Because of the 3 hit limit Oasis actually have a further 12 tracks in the Top 75 - these are starred out.
3 of those tracks lie between nos. 13 and 24.
*** Oasis - Champagne Supernova
*** Oasis - Supersonic
*** Oasis - She's Electric
Well done Oasis!

Chart Review 06/09/24
I'M IN COLLEGE AGAIN FOLKS.
Yes, year two of my grand scheme to take over my local area has come to fruition and I must say, we've had a grand summer, haven't we? The Euros were great except if you're from Croatia, the Olympics/Paralympics have been pretty fun if you ignore Twitter, and of course, there's been loads of fresh and exciting talent to throw their weight around in the music scene of late. We can talk about Charli XCX all we want, but there was also Eminem remembering how to be relevant, Glastonbury trying to prove that LCD Soundsystem and PJ Harvey are good enough to prelude Dua Lipa on the Main Stage, Deadpool & Wolverine somehow causing 2000's finest to impact the charts, Chase & Status slapping everyone about, and brilliant albums from beabadoobee, Bring Me The Horizon, Twenty One Pilots, SOFT PLAY, and Fontaines D.C.. Oh, and a certain Teenage Witch has become inescapable since the warm weather kicked in. But you knew that already.
Anyways, it's a fresh new season now, and yesterday saw two fun events happen. Not only did San Marino finally win a football match (I wasn't even ALIVE the last time they were victorious), but the Mercury Prize happened as well. It was alright, wasn't it? Forget about the fact that there's no sponsor now, and none of the acts got to perform live, and the ceremony is basically on it's deathbed at this point. No one wants to know about those trivial matters, Instead, we should be praising the lord that such innovative and fantastic sounds eminated from the cream bun of this year's festivities. Not that This Could Be Texas by Leeds indie-The Fall wannabes English Teacher is THAT much of a culture shock, but you know, at least it wasn't Cat Burns.
Moving on from that though, and the charts are dead. Again. WHY. Can't there just be a double-ACR trigger for artists like Benson Boone and Noah Kahan who've been lurking around since JANUARY? I could do without hearing Stick Season for another 6 months, thanks. There's only 1 new hit and 1 re-entry today (congrats to The Kid LAROI I guess, even if NIGHTS LIKE THIS still makes me promptly ignore it), and that new hit is hardly the kind that will make us stare into the sky and shout "WE LOVE POP". Speaking of which...
Sabrina Carpenter is unstoppable right now. She is basically the Justin Bieber of the mid-2020s right now. Everything she touches turns to gold so much it's ridiculous. Just like last week, she holds a monopoly of the Top 3 spots, with Taste marking Week Number 2 at the summit, meanwhile Please Please Please and Espresso continue to guffaw even the most obsessive fangirl on the planet. So yeah, she's still the queen of pop right now. Except in the album chart, because she's been kicked down to No.2. Why? Well, you know. Oasis are back. Kind of.
Yeah, no, you couldn't make it up. 15 years after Liam and Noel Gallagher promptly sacked off working with each other any longer, they're finally back to do one of those reunion tours you do when your bank balance is slimming too much. And it did some funny things to the chart last week in ways I couldn't really fathom. OK, so they've all dropped off on Spotify this week, but that hasn't stopped their trio of classics budging up the chart and making everyone feel uncomfortable. Charging it's way to 8 is 1994 hit Live Forever, whose former No.10 peak is now forever lost to time eternal. Joining it in the best-sellers just behind it is 1996 chart-topper Don't Look Back In Anger, with '95 (only) American smash and busker's anthem Wonderwall down at 11. Oh yeah, and it's been 30 years since Definitely Maybe happened so they re-released it and watched the money roll in. Poor Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds man. I'm just glad they squeeked into the Top 5.
So as Dasha finally falls out of the Top 10 after like, 5 months, and Gigi Perez and Gracie Abrams crawl up the listings in convincing fashion, it's time to celebrate the only new entry. Except it's not much cop. Considering feelslikeimfallinginlove is still throwing it's beige shapes around the Top 40, it feels wrong for Coldplay to shove their second single from Moon Music out on an unwilling public. And it looked like it too, because it flopped at 44 last week. Similar situations were about to happen this week until the inevitable and completely worthless PHYSICAL RELEASE, a move that always makes me throw my remote at the TV screen in frustration. So yeah, WE PRAY is at 31 now. Little Simz and Burna Boy are on here, but they're not credited for some bizarre circumstance that I will not bother decoding, so I'll just leave it at that. Also, second singles from Coldplay albums usually do extraordinarily well. Yellow, The Scientist, Fix You, Viva La Vida, Paradise, A Sky Full Of Stars, Hymn For The Weekend and My Universe have all been massive. WE PRAY just sounds like album filler.
Outside the chart and Addison Rae has risen to 50 in short order so expect the Lana Del Rey impersonator to infect your craniums with haste. 360 by Charli XCX tumbles to 69 because it's on ACR, Becky Hill's latest flog has limped to 73, Drake and The Kid LAROI are back with songs I completely forgot about until I started this write-up, K-Poppers LE SSERAFIM make their first chart bow, meanwhile another Fontaines D.C. album track pops up along with the usual new dance drivel that has also debuted. And I know that because Breaking Me by Topic was AWFUL, and I despise anything he's involved in.
Anyways, next week's chart will at least have SOME things going on next time, with Fred Again.. battling against David Gilmour for album supremacy. There's also an album where the likes of Simple Plan and Bowling For Soup cover Disney songs, but we don't need to worry about that, do we? In the singles market, Megan Thee Stallion ruins her reputation by hanging out with a BTS member, Linkin Park hire a woman to sing their new songs for absolutely no reason at all (but their new one's OK I guess), Halsey and Jungle return to underperform as always, David Guetta urinates all over Infinity by Guru Josh, and Central Cee has dragged in RAYE for his new one and then ditches her after 40 seconds. Go figure. BYE.
YO YO IT'S AMAZIN' TIER:
Charli XCX [17] (360 fell out, so this is your new No.1. BRAT fever isn't dying out for a long while yet.), Chappell Roan [14], Shaboozey [21] (This is the bit where I start pestering him to leave, isn't it. ☹️), Chase & Status ft. Stormzy [6], Oasis [11]
NOT AS GOOD AS THE TIER ABOVE TIER:
*NSYNC [20], Chappell Roan [36], Sabrina Carpenter [3], Oasis [8] (The chart historians are in shambles right now.), Chappell Roan [4], Charli XCX ft. Billie Eilish [13] (This doesn't feel like a chart-topper at all.)
ALRIGHT. S'POSE. TIER:
Sabrina Carpenter [1], Adam Port/Stryv/This Joke Is Repetitive [18], Taylor Swift [32], Madonna [34], Billie Eilish [5], Jordan Adetunji [16], Sabrina Carpenter [2], The Blessed Madonna/Clementine Douglas [38]
OK IS BACKWARDS FOR KO TIER:
Oasis [9], Post Malone & Morgan Wallen [40], Teddy Swims [23], Gracie Abrams [25] (I only put this here for the climb alone.), Sonny Fodera/Jazzy/D.O.D. [15]
•-• TIER:
Gigi Perez [24], Billie Eilish [35], Lady Gaga & Bruno Mars [7], Noah Kahan [37], Coldplay (+ some other folks) [31] (Stop trying to be Imagine Dragons, you can't do it good.), JADE [22]
UNHAPPY EXPRESSION GOES HERE TIER:
Dasha [12] (FINALLY. THIS IS YEAR ZERO FOR THE MUSIC INDU- just kidding.), Hanumankind/Kalmi [27], Myles Smith [26], The Kid LAROI [39], Coldplay [33]
NOPE TIER:
Benson Boone [19], Hozier [29], BL3SS/CamrinWatsin/bbyclose [10]
AS INSUFFERABLE AS ELON MUSK IN 2024 TIER:
Benson Boone [28], Teddy Swims [30] (You thought the Minecraft movie trailer was putrid? Oh you sweet summer child... 🤭)
NEW ENTRIES:
Andy C/Becky Hill - Indestructible [73] (This has nothing on Disconnect.)
Drake - Circadian Rhythm [76] (Any reason why this has replaced Blue Green Red from 100 GIGS on Spotify? Or...)
The Kid LAROI - BABY I'M BACK [78] (The usual Aussie trap-rap you'd expect from him. Move on.)
LE SSERAFIM - CRAZY [83] (JADE already has the disappointing BRAT-like fangirl market wrapped up I'm afraid.)
Hugel/Topic/Arash/Daecolm - I Adore You [90] (I wanna like it but... This is so 2023. Besides, Adam Port is so much better anyway.)
Fontaines D.C. - Bug [93] (This sounds like it would reach No.31 in 2006. And all the better for it as far as I'm concerned.)
(P.S. Gonna be honest with you, there's better Oasis songs out there. Supersonic, Some Might Say, Acquiesce, D'You Know What I Mean?, Sunday Morning Call, The Hindu Times, Lyla, Let There Be Love, and The Shock Of The Lightning are all slightly more deserving of chart spots than the ones we got.)

grippy clears this entire chart fr 😤😤

The only person that can knock Chappell from the top of my rankings is herself, it seems.
I’m fine with ‘We Pray’ being the one new arrival in the Top 40 today. Long overdue for Little Simz in particular even if she sadly didn’t get credited.
That being said, we also have to deal with ‘Nights Like This’ making a reappearance. Ugh.

So what do we all think of the Songs Of The Summer chart?
For me, I’m impressed that Billie managed to get five songs in the Top 40! I also liked ‘A Bar Song’ being as high as #3 and ‘We Can’t Be Friends’ having enough longevity to make the list. :)
Seven of the entries in it were released more than a year ago lol.
Piran
‘360’ on ACR is unfortunate. I wish it could’ve spent at least in a week in the Top 10, but Charli’s had a fantastic summer nonetheless and she honestly did this even better with ‘365’.
Hey, at least ‘Ain’t No Love In Oklahoma’ was able to avoid it!
Piran
That’s three weeks in a row where ‘The Door’ appeared in the First Look but didn’t make the Top 20.
It seems to have stalled out completely which is a shame because it’s actually not a bad song at all. On the other hand, its predecessor isn’t falling fast enough… 😐
Speaking of songs that are sticking around for way too long, why is ‘Beautiful Things’ back up?
Piran
I’m sorry but the Oasis resurgence is overkill at this point. I know they’re icons, and I’d understand them having this kind of takeover if they dropped a surprise album or something, but they haven’t even released any new music and the tour isn’t until the middle of next year anyway! 😩
itsnoodleszn_
new music from them would be reasonable, so long as both brothers are in separate studios recording it
