It's the same Christmas songs that appear the charts every year in December. They should now release some brand new Christmas songs in 2016

Can someone tell why Kylie's Chris Martin-penned single "Every Day's Like Christmas" didn't chart?

Peak position info is so random! Shakin Stevens, Slade, Mud and Jona Lewie's chart history pre-2007 are shown correctly so why not Wizzard, John Lennon and Boney M? John & Yoko's Happy Xmas peaked at #2 on its original release, Boney M's Mary's Boy Child was #1 for 4 weeks in 1978, and Wizzard spent 4 weeks at #4 in 1973 (while Slade were #1). Get your facts right, guys, some of us are old enough to remember!

I bet you the NHS song is going to drop to like 30 next week and X Factor will drop to like 80

Probably.

Well yes for A Bridge Over You but Forever Young will probably drop fairly steadily, a bit at a time.

Nice to see some Christmas songs in the Top 40 but a shame that none of the new generation have made it. Compared to the 'FAB Chart' the official singles chart is a bit uninspiring.

Have a listen to our little attempt which got nowhere lol but was a bit more fun and ballsy, well we enjoyed it and people have gone for our video which gets the message out about diabetes to a few more folk. Just didnt convert into downloads which is a shame but always next year. Too late now but please pass it on

Streaming has destroyed the charts.

To be honest, if it wasn't for Band Aid 20 Can We Fix It would probably be the best Christmas number 1 of the milennium so far. Not CHOIRS or X factor fails.

FOLK the UK!!! Why does Billboard give that bigoted nation much credit or acknowledgement is beyond reason! Not Selena Gomez on the chart. Racist rats.

All streaming is doing is making sure Justin Bieber stays as high up as possible. WDYM would only be at number 13 without streaming sales, rather than number 5

More than a fifth of this chart is made up of old festive songs, which, by now, most of us are sick and tired of hearing everytime we walk into a shop to get something this month. I've even walked out of shops playing this , and every year the British public don't help the situation by downloading them to register sales into this chart. Next week, as all 21 drop out of the top 100 I expect even more rubbish will re-enter to take their places.

Several of them have reached their highest position since 2007 this year. Some of that has to be the increased influence of streaming.

There will be re-entries of several songs displaced by the Christmas records.

Clearly enough people are not sick of listening to them, as they are streaming them and that's why they're charting. Interesting how they go in and out of fashion- I haven't heard E, L & P once this year.

I'm on your side. These songs . I can't believe that people are still listening to the same, boring christmas songs. I mean, most of the people listen to the same music every year.
But on the other hand, comercial songs and artists like Justin Bieber or Taylor Swift are as terrible as "last christmas".
Sometimes I'm wondering where good music has gone.

"Good music?"
If by that, you mean music you like, well, it hasn't gone anywhere. You can go buy an album with songs you like on it or stream music you do like on YouTube or Spotify or something. Music you like hasn't gone anywhere.
If there isn't any NEW music you like, which I guess is what you're calling "good music," simply don't listen to it or buy it. Simple.

The true chart fans will notice that Chris Rea's Driving Home For Christmas is currently at its highest ever position; it peaked at #33 on its original release, and it's currently at #29.

In fact, on its original (vinyl) release, in late 1988, as the lead track on The Christmas EP, it only made #53. It's come a long way since then...

That is super! It is such a great song!!!

It probably sold more copies on it's first release. Not many singles are bought these days, so it's not as big a deal to make the top 30 today.

seems as if though x factor is well and truly finished. nice to see justin bieber helping a deserving song get that much sought after spot. a truly nice gesture.
