Top Gun: Maverick claims ninth week at Number 1 on the Official Film Chart
Top Gun: Maverick extends its lead at Number 1 to a ninth week.
As It enjoys yet another huge week on DVD, Blu-ray & 4K UHD sales, Maverick’s record-breaking stint at the top of the Official Film Chart reaches a ninth non-consecutive week, holding off competition from festive favourites, classics and some of the year’s biggest hitters.
Will Ferrell’s performance as Buddy in Elf rebounds two places back to Number 2, the week’s biggest film on digital download, pushing biopic Elvis down to Number 3, and Downton Abbey: A New Era to Number 4.
Next up, Jurassic World: Dominion holds its place at Number 5, as does the animated version of The Grinch at Number 6, with The Grinch the week’s second-most digitally downloaded title. Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore holds strong at Number 7, just ahead of the boxset of Top Gun and Top Gun Maverick.
1991 classic Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (9) enters the Film Chart for the very first time following its release on a limited edition 4K UHD collection. Kevin Costner, Morgan Freeman, Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio, Alan Rickman and more feature in this iconic film which sees Costner star as the eponymous character in a retelling of the classic story. Its theme song, Brian Adams’ Everything I Do, I Do It For You, broke (and continues to hold) records after spending 16 consecutive weeks at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart on its original release in 1991.
Finally, Just outside the Top 10, The Polar Express chuffs up four places to Number 12 as we edge closer to Christmas.
