New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place.
Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.
Let's get straight into this week's new singles.
Here at Official Charts, we are always dreaming of a White Christmas, and it just so happens that this week, our wish is granted. BTS idol V (well-known now for realising holiday songs each year) is going for the big one in 2024, covering what just might be the most famous festive song of them all, White Christmas. And he may have sadly died in 1977 (RIP king) but the marvels of modern technology have enabled V to release his cover of White Christmas as a 'duet' with Bing Crosby himself, with both artists' vocals on the track.
Now that's a very special kind of Christmas present, right?
Also newly dropping this week we have R&B-pop savant Khalid, who issues a trio of new singles today with a variety of pop girlies, from Ayra Starr (Make It Up To You), Chloe Bailey (MIA) and even everyone's favourite superstar in the waiting, Normani (Personal).
Sky Ferreira, one of the most important and dynamic pop voices of her generation, finally returns today for the first time in more than a decade as an independent artist. High-throttle new single Leash comes directly from the soundtrack of new erotic thriller Babygirl with Nicole Kidman and Harris Dickson. Very fitting, since both the song and video grapple with the gratification of pleasure and pain. Masochism indeed.
Elsewhere, also catch new singles from The Aces (queer pop banger Jealous), HotWax (Wanna Be A Doll) and Mallrat (Horses).
Meanwhile, over on albums...she's (still) taking over the airwaves with breakout solo hit APT, but ROSÉ isn't done there! December 6th sees her first full-length LP as a soloist, rosie, debut for the first time. Given APT's success, it's due to be a star-making turn for the BLACKPINK idol.
Another debut solo album this weeks comes from CHVRCHES vocalist Lauren Mayberry, her intricate and intelligent LP Vicious Creature is an altogether more wacky and outré version of pop music, clearly influenced by the likes of Annie Lennox and Kate Bush.
Elsewhere, does someone hear Santa knocking? Sabrina Carpenter caps off a sterling year with her very own Netflix special, A Nonsense Christmas, with guests including Chappell Roan. She's releasing a special EP of songs to coincide with it, and those who have just jumped on the Espresso train this year will surely love Sab's own coquettish twist on festive bangers, such as the delicious Buy Me Presents.
