New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place
New Music Friday Songs Albums August 23 2024

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Let's get straight into albums, shall we?

Off the back of chart-topping smashes Espresso and Please Please Please, Sabrina Carpenter serves up her sixth (yep, sixth) studio LP Short n' Sweet. A play on Sabrina's height (she's a modest 4'9", fact fans) and the record's 36-minute run time, Short n' Sweet sees the Pennsylvanian pop superstar team up with talent including Julian Bunetta (Teddy Swims, One Direction), Ian Kirkpatrick (Katy Perry, Dua Lipa) and Jack Antonoff (Taylor Swift, Kendrick Lamar).

The album's release is accompanied by the music video for focus track Taste, starring Beetlejuice actress Jenna Ortega.

With Sabrina having already secured twelve weeks atop the Official Singles Chart in 2024 so far, the record's surely in with a shot at next week's Number 1.

There'll be some tough competition from Fontaines D.C., though, as the Dublin alt-rock deliver their fourth studio LP Romance. Featuring the pre-release singles Starburster, Favourite, Here's The Thing and In The Modern World, could Romance earn the lads a second chart-topping album in the UK?

In 2023, the group's third record Skinty Fia became their first to reach the summit, with the boys explaining they were 'touched by everyone's response' at the time.

There's a key contender in the form of Travis Scott, too. Celebrating its 10th anniversary, the Texan rapper and singer reissues his 2014 mixtape DAYS BEFORE RODEO with additional material across brand-new formats, landing on streaming for the first time ever.

Elsewhere, Young T & Bugsey unleash their latest mixtape Beyond Rea5onable Doubt, including pre-release tracks Soca and Dundee, plus a collaboration with JAE5 (Fake Can't Stay). The duo will be hoping to bag a second UK Top 40 album with the record.

This week sees Louis Tomlinson release the physical variants of his 2023 LIVE album. The LP, recorded across various dates on his Faith In The Future and Louis Tomlinson World Tour shows, is now available on vinyl and CD formats.

Celebrating a decade since the release of her second studio album, Ariana Grande surprise drops My Everything - Tenth Anniversary Edition. The record, which peaked at Number 3 in 2014, now includes bonus tracks Cadillac Song and Too Close across brand-new physical and digital formats. The accompanying merch collection's pretty cute, too.

It's a big week for country fans. Thomas Rhett drops his sixth full-length collection About a Woman, as Louisiana native Lainey Wilson unleashes with her fifth, Whirlwind.

Now, onto this week's big singles.

Following his recent Top 5 success with Stargazing, breakout Luton singer-songwriter Myles Smith serves up brand-new single Wait For You. Meanwhile, Coldplay form quite the supergroup with Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna and TINI on latest Moon Music cut WE PRAY.

Brit three-piece Say Now, comprising Yssy, Amelia and Maddie, pack another girl power punch with Trouble; the successor to ballsy break-up bop Bitch Get Out My Car. Look out for a very special cameo from a certain Girl Aloud in the video, too.

Pet Shop Boys release Feel as the fourth single from their Top 5 record Nonetheless this week; recruiting acclaimed young British artist Corbin Shaw and Rawtape, plus actors Sam Bottomley and Tareq Al-Jeddal, for the track's emotional music video.

blink-182 are back with ALL IN MY HEAD and NO FUN, Nathan Dawe and Joel Corry join forces with SACHA on HIGHER, Central Cee drops Billion Streams Freestyle and, finally, Miranda Lambert offers up Postcards From Texas pre-release single No Man's Land.

@OfficialCharts I think you forgot to post the New Music Friday Singles at the bottom? You have the New Albums & New DVD's sections, but no New Singles?
