What about immaculate collection album. Her biggest greatest hits compilation album. So this would make it her 4th album not 3rd of its kind.

Still less than Kylies 9 compilations!

A celebration for achieving 50 number one singles on the irrelevant Dance chart, a chart that isn't even based on radio play or sales, lol. Impressive! Madonna hasn't had a number one on the main Hot 100 (the chart that matters) since 2000. The Beatles, Elvis, Mariah Carey and Rihanna all have more number ones on that chart than Madonna.

You said it yourself there you absolute moron! AirPlay! First of all you do realise this is a UK Article for a UK chart. Mariah is nothing in the UK and neither is Lady Garbage! Mariah has just 4 number 1's in the UK vs Madonna's 13! Lol

And You must also realise that in the UK we do NOT count airplay! Reason being because record companies PAY stations to play their artists singles! Which is fraudulent! Of Mariahs 19 number 1's only a handful topped the chart based on sales alone! The rest? Were put their because Tommy Mattola paid for them to be there!! No one has sold more albums across the world than Madonna or singles. So take your elsewhere! This isnt the US! Its the UK! Idiot!

avatar

And yet Madonna has sold more singles in the US than Mariah, Lady Gaga & Rihanna combined. You see Mariah only has 19 number 1's because her manager paid radio stations to play her singles. And the US counts airplay spins as a sale which is ludicrous and its cheating. Compared to Madonna's 148 million singles sold in the US, Mariah has sold just 105 million. Hot 100 number 1's do not count. Dance number 1's do because its an actual sales chart. Idiot!

Where Kylie btw?????? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

"Remix and Revised" was a 7 trackk EP and not another remix album collection.
It had 1 remix from each of the 4 "American Life" album singles plus "Into The Hollywood Groove" version that was on GAP commerical, a MTV 2003 live performance audio and new songs. It even charted on Budget UK Albums Chart (and in some single charts in some countries like Portugal and Italy).

"Finally Enough Love" will be Madonna 2nd Remix Album ever (and first Hit Remixes album).

ordered ALL formats because she's the greatest. But the track listing isn't entirely correct, Everybody peaked at number 3 not 1, Causing a Commotion was a number 2 hot 100 hit and number 1 dance hit, it has been left off in favor of Everybody which is a shame as that is a far superior track, especially in its remix form

it wasnt a dance chart hit. It hit number 1 on the billboard singles chart and the adult contemporary

"Papa Don't Preach" peaked at #04 on the Dance Charts (despite peaking at #01 on Singles Charts). If you want a compilation with "Papa Don't Preach" get "Celebration" or "The Immaculate Collection". There is a remix version on the digital release version of 35 Anniversary of True Blue (that was never released physically so far).

The 3-CD edition is a must. It includes single versions of Madonna's songs, such as "Keet It Together" or "Vogue", that were aired on the radio, but were never released on Madonna's previous studio or greatest hits albums. Who cannot fancy this monster rework greatest hits album? The only objection is why we have to wait 'till August to have the 3-CD edidion. The 2-month span from the stream release date to the CD and vinyl release date may hold Madonna back from gaining another No. 1 album, as album sales will spread in the course of two months instead of concentrating the release dates on the same week to have a bigger impact on the album chart.

Physical preorders are completely commonplace now. They don't count toward the chart until the actual release. That's why you see so many older artists have big first weeks, then disappear in week two. That's what we're going to see here. Madonna's streaming numbers for new albums are not great, and remix albums are a niche market, so it probably won't even chart at all on streaming alone, or it might barely squeak into the bottom of the chart, then come back when the physicals are out.

NN

2

It might chart as most remixes are available for streaming and on iTunes for a while now already and are not on any Madonna album yet. This means that all streams and iTunes sales that already happened will be counted for the first week charting (the week of June 24).

B

Brian

2

No, I'm pretty sure the streams will only count during the week of release. iTunes preorders for the album will count, but I doubt that's happening in numbers big enough to land it on the charts.

Many remixes on this are not available anywhere else so that will push this albums popularity among her fans and those who are genuine fans of remixers, and download versions do not count until actual release date either, its not available to stream until august so they cant count until a week after release. This happens to all artists. Kylies Disco album (awful IMHO) hit number 1 because of a mighty 13 different formats, then slid right out the top 40 as streaming slumped. This isnt something unique to legacy acts either, the same happened to Lady Gaga's Chromatica. Its not a sign of an act being a failure, its a sign of a fickle change hungry generation. The days of artists like Madonna are over. The music industry isnt interested in sticking with acts and helping them to evolve anymore, they'd sooner bin them after 1-2 albums and start a fresh. Its degraded the industry. I think Gaga and Rihanna were the last of that generation, and even they are struggling

avatar

2

It looks like they are releasing the shorter form album first, in June via streaming, digital and CD. Then the much more expansive edition in all formats in August. The edited shorter track album is pointless in my opinion, they did it with celebration and it omitted the biggest hits!

B

Brian

2

It's going to be available for streaming in June. I just don't think it will do particularly well in that format. This will be interesting, because it's the first time in awhile that Madonna hasn't had a tour that she could bundle to boost her sales numbers. I suspect it's going to be a huge reality check for her.

avatar

Jack fitsy

2

Rubbish! Whats with this bundling?! All artists do it. Gaga's team invented it! And its a legitimate sale. Why single Madonna out for a reality check?! Lol besides, you do realise the bundling of tickets and CD's at the checkout, the customer STILL has an option of wether to buy the album at checkout, or not? It is illegal to charge a person for something they did not request? 🙄 So those who chose to purchase an album with her tour tickets when offered, chose do so of their own choice. Its just another format for selling. I'd say artists like Beyonce, Cher, Mariah & Gaga who discount their albums down to 99c 2 days after the debut are cheating! And the likes of Kylie who rely on 13 formats per album to boost sales!

Madonna is just fine. This is a remix album! Not a studio effort so of course sales will be lower. Thats the same for all artists hits packages. Stop with the bias, or at least check your facts! And for the record, Album tour ticket bundling options are only available in north America. Nowhere else does this.

B

Brian

2

I'm not saying Madonna is the only one that does it. I'm saying this is the first time in a few albums that she won't be able to do it. The rules have been tweaked over the years, so I'm not even exactly sure what they are anymore. But I do know that I have two Madame X CDs that I did not pay extra for when I bought tickets to her tour. All I had to do was provide my address after the fact, and since I actively redeemed the offer, it counted as 2 sales the first week. It may have been a legitimate sale for chart purposes, but it really was just a freebie for people who bought tickets to the tour, if they wanted it. And when she didn't have those concert ticket "album sales" to prop her up in week two, the album fell from #1 to #77, because it was getting very little streaming.

I don't fault anybody for gaming the chart system, that's been happening since charts were invented. It's just been awhile since we've had a Madonna album that wasn't able to use those tactics, and with the album sales market what it is these days, I think it's gonna be an eye opener.

avatar

Jack fitsy

2

Listen. I'll say this, one more time. The price was factored into the overall ticket sales. But there was a choice. Again, its illegal to charge for something you unknowingly purchased. Its a legitimate sale that detractors often do not understand how it works. I work in the industry and believe me, they were not given away with the Madame X or Rebel Heart Tours. Thats why its called a bundle. Nothing is free in this world. The overall price you paid for a ticket included the cost of the album. If it were free, it wouldnt have been counted toward a chart sale. Period!

avatar

Jack fitsy

2

Oh and the only albums in north America Madonna has released which included this marketing strategy were MDNA, Rebel Heart & Madame X. In North America only by the way. Its all in the small print when your purchased your ticket. You could opt out of the album bundle, but believe me if you went ahead and purchased it, a portion of that overall sale would have been for the album, the rest the ticket, promoter etc. otherwise it would be a free item and that would not count as a sale under any chart rules in the US. Why is that so difficult to understand??? You need to ignore the media, who little understand these things and try to discredit her achievement by any means, even if it does mean painting her as some fraud! But rules are rules! A free album does NOT count toward a sale. Its not about a free album counting toward a sale. Its about a paid for album being offered alongside a ticket. Bundled together at point of sale. Totally legit. Its like offering it for sale alongside candy at the supermarket checkout.

And as mentioned before. This is NOT a studio album! So naturally sales will be lower as most of the mixes are already available. All hits packages & remix packages fair less well. So waiting to see if 'bundling' will affect it is pointless. We already know this will fair less well as its aimed at her fans. Its a gift. Like Mariah's remix efforts. Or J-Lo's....

'And when she didn't have those concert ticket "album sales" to prop her up in week two, the album fell from #1 to #77, because it was getting very little streaming'

No, most of the first weeks sales are represented by physical & digital pre order sales. Not concert ticket sales. The Madame X tour tickets went on sale after the album was released. Not before. The reason all legacy chart acts now slump in week 2 etc is because their fanbase do not use streaming formats. Nothing to do with popularity or cheating the system with covert album bundling! Seems you need to understand how the market works instead of spouting off media based nonsense! End of the day Madam X, Rebel Heart & MDNA sold well compared to average album sales with second weeks slumps being the norm for most artists these days. Mariah Careys Caution peaked at number 3 in the US deploying the same marketing ploy alongside her tour and it vanished off chart in a week. Lady Gaga's Joanne sold less than Madonna's MDNA with the same marketing strategy and so on. Madonna's fans prefer physical & digital release formats hence the large 1st week sale then slump. Its because they do not stream. Not because of inflated first week sales. Madonna's fan base hasnt vanished! You only have to look at how all physical formats of this compilation, have already sold out across the globe. Understand that and you'll understand why her music isnt doing as well on the corrupt chart systems

B

Brian

No, Madame X's first week sales were absolutely almost 100% because of the concert ticket bundle. Trust me, if I had heard the album before the tickets went on sale, I NEVER, and I do mean never, would have sprung for the tickets. I hated that album with the power of 1000 suns, and I know Madonna shows are always heavy on the new album. Like I said, Billboard has constantly tweaked the rules about how bundling albums with other items count or don't count toward the chart. At the time of Madame X, I believe you had to get an actual physical product, and you had to actively do something to get it for it to count. They weren't mailing out all those Madame X CDs just to be nice, they were trying to get a big chart debut. In earlier years they could just email you a code for an album download, and I think at one point you didn't actually even have to download the album for it to count. Today, I don't know what exactly the rules are. I do know they made some sort of adjustment a year or two ago that had to do with concert ticket sales, I don't remember what it was, but I do remember realizing that was going to be the end of legacy acts getting the high chart placements that they had been getting because of it. End of the day, Madame X barely sold anything on its own, it was almost all because of concert ticket sales. The people who might have bought it didn't need to, because they were getting one already. It didn't appeal to ANYBODY beyond Madonna's fanbase. And half of us thought it sucked too.

Give me a break. You really think Madonna was going to charge $390 for my concert ticket, but jacked it up to an even $400 because of the CD? They can break down the ticket sale cost however they want, it doesn't mean it means anything. It was a free album, even if they made up some BS accounting to show that somebody paid for it. If you have to go into the small print to find out how to opt out and get a few bucks off your ticket price, that is not the same thing as choosing to pay extra to add on the CD because you wanted it. For somebody who works in the industry, you should be a of a lot more knowledgeable about chart manipulation than you are.

So, if you saw her tour you'll know the album went onsale BEFORE the tour tickets even went on sale! & It wasnt free!!!!!!! How can a FREE item count toward a sale you moron! No matter how much you try to deride her sales. Even IF it was bundled, it wouldnt have gone toward a CD sale! Are you nuts?!

In 2019 Rolling Stone published the biggest expose on artists that benefitted from chart manipulation in the US in past few decades, Mariah Carey, Beyonce and no surprise Kanye West & Lady Gaga were ALL known to benefit from strong arm tactics of music companies paying radio stations to play their artists tracks! Of Mariahs 19 US number 1 singles, only a handful actually got to the top on the basis of sales alone. Her label are the biggest fraudsters out there. And why are you bringing US style issues here????? The UK, Europe, Asia & Australia dont even bundle CD's or count ridiculous airplay! Probably why Madonna's sales are much more reliable & higher! Because they're not corrupt! Madame X in the UK debuted with 30k, similar to elsewhere and NOT that much different to other younger acts. This obsession with Madonna's detractors and haters trying in vain to prove her as some over the hill fraudster or cheat is pathetic.i doubt you are even a fan! At least her 315 million albums sold were legit! Unlike today, where airplay, discounting albums and streaming seem to count

You have absolutely no evidence to back up half the you are spouting At all. You're a hater, and not even from the UK or Europe! So why come here???? Free Albums do not count toward sales. And no other nation on earth manipulates its charts the way the US does, im from Europe, you came to a European site to bemoan of issues that we do not have outside your twisted nations chart rules. Madame X sold well under current conditions in the US WITHOUT your hypothesised bundling bull ! If we were to believe you, the 200k its sold is purely on the back of free albums given away and that nobody actually went out and downloaded it, bought the plethora of cassettes, vinyl or CD packages???? ! You're a silly fat old hater. Madame X WW is already platinum based on 380 million streams. 195 million of those are FROM the US! 😂

You're deluded old man! Madonna beat Mariah, Cher, Celine & Lady Garbage with her last effort legitimately. And as previously mentioned, this is a HITS package! Not a studio album you tool! .

There were no ticket bundles in UK as they were never allowed to chart by the rules. Madame X was #02 in UK selling over 31k without bundle on first week (80% of the year weeks these numbers would give her #01 but it was released on the Fathers Day week and so Bruce Springteen sold a little more in UK).

As for US Madame X sold 95k on first week:
5k from streaming
60k from sales without bundles
30k from bundles of her theater tour - with 2k venues you don't have many ticket bundles.

She would still be #01 in US if she didn't have those ticket bundles but her team didn't want to take risks and did it anyway (Bruce Springsteen was #02 in US selling 50k).

Shall we talk about how Rihanna's Anti album hit platinum status in 12 hours because Samsung purchased 1 million physical copies as part of a promotional deal?? You can say what the you like about Madonna but one thing is for sure! ANY album she releases now is literally just for her own pleasure. NOT as part of some management strategy to bump sales or chart stats! She has sold in excess of 300 million WW and she has sold those legitimately! People getting off their backsides and paying for her art! Not like today where kids & record company bots sit streaming tracks on an endless loop! Or where big corporations buy airtime
