Can you feel the Mayhem in the air? Lady Gaga’s seventh studio album is already spreading its chaotic magic as it charges ahead for a Number 1 debut.

Already being hailed by critics and fans alike as a return to form for Mother Monster, Mayhem is looking to become her fifth UK Number 1 album; following The Fame (2009), Born This Way (2011), ARTPOP (2013) and Chromatica (2020).

Coming in at Number 2 midweek, JENNIE is the latest member of BLACKPINK to issue her debut solo album. RUBY is pacing to become JENNIE’s first solo entry into the Official Albums Chart Top 10, and potentially the second record by a BLACKPINK member to earn a Top 5 placement, following ROSÉ’s rosie, which peaked at Number 4.

Geordie rockers The Wildhearts could be approaching a career-best chart placement with their 11th album Satanic Rites of the Wildhearts (4). If they maintain momentum, it would become their highest-charting record ever in the UK, and their third to hit the Top 10, following 1995’s P.H.U.Q (6) and 2021’s 21st Century Love Songs (9).

Jethro Tull’s 24th LP Curious Ruminant is expected to become the rock group’s 8th Top 10 album (7), Canadian heavy metal group Spiritbox could earn their first Top 10 album with Tsunami Sea (8), while alt-rock outfit HotWax could send their debut studio album Hot Shock straight into the upper echelons of the chart (9).

Further down, US singer-songwriter Jason Isbell (a former member of Drive-By Truckers) could secure a fourth Top 40 solo album with Foxes In The Snow (16).

German dance innovators Kraftwerk could see their landmark 1974 opus Autobahn re-enter the Top 40 this week – the 1974 LP is celebrating its 50th anniversary with a new re-issue (27). It originally peaked at Number 4 in the UK and is considered a landmark release in the evolution of electronic music.

Nottingham four-piece Divorce’s debut album Drive to Goldenhammer is pacing for a Top 30 debut (30), while Korean rapper G-Dragon’s third studio album (and first in 12 years) Übermensch could see him make his Official Albums Chart debut (32).

Finally, following the start of her European tour (including one headline gig at London’s Eventim Apollo) US indie-pop darling Clairo’s third album Charm prepares for a Top 40 re-entry (34). The record became Claire Cottrill’s first UK Top 20 album last year, peaking at Number 13.
