Gracie Abrams denies WHAM! a return to Number 1 as That's So True dominates for fifth week

Gracie Abrams has denied WHAM! a return to Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart today – now making it five weeks at the top with That’s So True.  

Behind at Number 2 is Last Christmas, rising six places week-on-week. Andrew and George may have just missed out today…but it’s likely they’ll be back with a vengeance next week! 

Five more Christmas songs are present in the Top 10 this week; Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You (5), Brenda Lee’s Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree (6), Band Aid’s Do They Know It’s Christmas? (8), bolstered by the Band Aid 40 2024 megamix, Ed Sheeran & Elton John’s Merry Christmas (9) and Bobby Helms’ Jingle Bell Rock (10). 

Wicked continues to entertain audiences across the UK, as Defying Gravity with Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande spends a second week at Number 7, while What Is This Feeling? rises one to a new peak of Number 16. 

Elsewhere, Stromae enters the Top 20 for the first time in his career with Ma Meilleure Ennemie with Pomme lifting two to Number 19. 

Big congratulations to singer and songwriter Lola Young, who scores her first Official UK Top 40 single with Messy (35), while Chrystal sees The Days re-enter the Top 40 at a new peak of Number 38.  

There are more Christmas songs climbing outside the Top 10, with a total of 21 present in the Top 40 today. The festive tracks rising inside the Top 20 are; Ariana Grande’s Santa Tell Me (11), Kelly Clarkson’s Underneath The Tree (12), The Pogues ft. Kirsty MacColl’s Fairytale of New York (13), Andy Williams’ It’s The Most Wonderful Time of the Year (15) and Shakin’ Stevens’ Merry Christmas Everyone (18).

Good to see 'Underneath The Tree' already returning to its peak! It's almost certainly going to enter the Top 10 for the first time this year.
