One Direction songs set to re-enter Official Singles Chart following Liam Payne’s death

A mix of One Direction hits and Payne's solo material are looking to re-enter the chart this week.
Liam Payne dies aged 31

Following the tragic news of Liam Payne’s death last Wednesday, three One Direction tracks are tracking to re-enter the Top 40; Night Changes (16), Story Of My Life (21) and What Makes You Beautiful (47).

Three solo tracks by Payne could also be present in the wider chart come Friday; Teardrops (65), For You with Rita Ora (67) and Strip That Down with Quavo (75).

Elsewhere, Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars have emerged as the frontrunners to de-throne Sabrina Carpenter’s Taste from Number 1. Die With A Smile (2) is little over 2,000 chart units behind from overtaking Sab at the midweek mark.

Also still in play for a coup this week; Sonny Fodera, Jazzy and D.O.D’s Somedays (3) and Gigi Perez’s Sailor Song (4).

ROSÉ and Bruno Mars could gain this week’s highest new entry with APT (7), which could become the first UK Top 10 single by a K-Pop female soloist.

Teddy Swims’ The Door looks set to fly up three to the Top 10 for the first time (9) which could Swims his second UK Top 10 hit.

Addison Rae’s Diet Pepsi continues to gain ground, up to a new peak of Number 11 midweek, and less than 200 chart units from breaking into the Top 10.

Celebrating its 40th anniversary, George Michael’s classic 1984 chart-topper Careless Whisper could re-enter the Top 20 at Number 12.

JADE's Fantasy could be looking to make its Top 40 debut this Friday, it's currently tracking to debut at Number 25;

I'm a bit doubtful that "Die with a Smile" will top the charts. It's likely going to be another week for Sabrina and I think "Bed Chem" could be the last number one before the Christmas number one.

I never would’ve expected ‘Somedays’ to potentially become a Top 3 hit, but it’s good to see nonetheless. :)

I also like the big re-entry for ‘Night Changes’ even if I’m still saddened by the news about Liam during the week… 😔

Be awesome if it did but it always drops after the first day of tracking, hopefully keeps top 5

& to be honest, i have a lot of great memories of our 1D mates on billboard!  don't know if you remember when 'best song ever' debuted @ #2 on the chart....that was fun!  that was back when simm & techfan & all of them could predict the next week's chart...but they were stuck behind robin thicke's 'blurred lines'.  all that feels like it was just yesterday!  i'll be back this weekend on the new official singles article.  still at the same job and having fun.  ok talk to you & everyone else soon.
