Aretha Franklin's music returns to the Official Charts following her death
The late Queen of Soul's music was streamed over 10 million times in the UK this week.
Three Aretha Franklin albums re-enter this week's Top 40 following her death last week; Soul Queen at 15, 30 Greatest Hits at 16 (both are new peaks for the albums) and Respect - The Very Best Of at 27.
Just outside the Top 40 is A Brand New Me; an orchestral album of Aretha's hits released last December reaches a new peak at Number 45.
On the Official Singles Chart, three Aretha classics land inside the Top 100. 1968’s I Say A Little Prayer is at 51, her UK breakthrough single R.E.S.P.E.C.T at 63 and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman lands at 79 – the first ever UK chart entry for the Carole King-penned track.
Across her entire catalogue, Aretha’s tracks notched up an impressive 10.1 million streams this week, with I Say A Little Prayer and R.E.S.P.E.C.T each gaining over one million plays over the past week.
