Jawsh 685 (real name Joshua Nanai) is a rising musician from New Zealand, who at the age of 17 went viral on social media app TikTok with Laxed (Siren Beat), which features a Pacific Islands trend of creating beats to play through siren speakers. The beat became the backdrop of the ‘Culture Dance’ challenge on the app. Jason Derulo, who has multiple Number 1s to his name in the UK, discovered the track and wanted to create a song using it, and eventually managed to partner up with Joshua to release Savage Love in June 2020.
