Sabrina Carpenter is a US pop star and actress. Originally a Disney child star, Sabrina's bounce into a pop career really got going with the release of her two-part third album Singular, whose pulsating highlights Almost Love and Paris marked her as one to watch. After a brief flirtation with tabloid sensationalism on the one-off single Skin, Sabrina's fifth LP Emails I Can't Send was a genre-crossing breakout moment for her and contained her first UK Top 20 single, Feather.
In April 2024 Sabrina cracked the Official Singles Chart Top 10 for the first time with Espresso, and two weeks later on 3 May the song became Sabrina Carpenter's first-ever UK Number 1 single. Official Charts confirmed the niche-but-true fact that Espresso was the highest-charting song about caffeine in 24 years, since All Saints' 2000 hit Black Coffee.
By June 2024, Sabrina was rewriting chart history as Please Please Please climbed to Number 1, while Espresso was still riding at Number 2. In doing so, Sabrina Carpenter became the youngest female artist in Official Chart history to hold the Number 1 and Number 2 spots on the Official Singles Chart in the same week.
In a continued run of form, two weeks later on 5 July 2024, Sabrina set another new Official Chart record, becoming the first ever female artist to simultaneously hold the Number 1 and Number 2 spot for three consecutive weeks. She matched The Beatles who achieved the same feat on two occasions, while only Justin Bieber (4 weeks) and Ed Sheeran (5 weeks) have managed longer.
August 2024 saw the release of Sabrina's debut album Short n’ Sweet, landing the second-biggest opening week of the year so far, only Taylor Swift's Tortured Poets Department out-performed it. Another record-breaking week on chart, Sabrina became the first female in history to score both the UK’s Number 1 album and single simultaneously, while also dominating all three top positions on the Official Singles Chart with Taste (1), Please Please Please (2) and Espresso (3).
By October 2024, Sabrina Carpenter was confirmed by Official Charts as the first artist in 71 years to score 20 weeks at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in a single year. The last - and only- artist to have achieved that was Frankie Laine back in 1953.
