The Voice’s Leah McFall scores Official Chart Top 20 hit already!
Leah McFall of BBC’s The Voice has scored her first Official Chart Top 20 hit, and the semi-finals haven’t even yet begun!
Bookies’ favourite and the star of Friday night’s quarter final, Leah McFall of Team Will, has found her original take on Gloria Gaynor classic I Will Survive already rocketing up the charts.
In the 24 hours on sale since Friday night’s show through to the Official Chart cut off at midnight last night, Leah’s unique version of the track gathered enough momentum to break into the Official Singles Chart Top 20 at Number 16.
The Twittersphere was set alight during Friday night’s show, with the hashtag #LEAH trending across the UK. The quirky 23 year old Belfast singer and fashion student Leah has even earned herself some celebrity fans including The Saturdays’ Rochelle Humes who tweeted “She’s too sick. Wow indeed. Love her x”, and Voice judge Jessie J who held Leah up as a shining example of the ‘difference’ between The Voice and other talent shows.
Leah’s knockout performance on Friday earned her a fast pass from coach Will.I.Am straight through to next week’s semi-finals.
