Despite selling over 176,000 copies over the last nine days, Adele’s Skyfall has been kept off Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart for a second week running.

Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child FT John Martin, has pipped the British singer’s theme song to the new James Bond film of the same name to the post. The Scandinavian DJ supergroup, who announced in June that they will be going on an indefinite hiatus after they complete their current touring commitments, have outsold Skyfall by 43,000 copies over the last week to secure their fifth Official Singles Chart Top 10 hit and first Number 1.

While Adele’s Skyfall (Number 2) may not have become the first Bond theme to reach Number 1, she is now tied with Duran Duran’s1985 Number 2 hit, A View To A Kill, which previously held the record for the highest charting Bond theme in the 50 year history of the spy film franchise. Psy’s Gangnam Style slides one place to Number 3, while last week’s chart topper, Rihanna’s Diamonds, falls three places to Number 4. This week’s Top 5 is completed by Ellie Goulding’s Anything Could Happen (Number 5).

New Entries And High Climbers

In addition to Swedish House Mafia’s Don’t You Worry Child FT John Martin (Number 1) there are also new entries for Leona Lewis, Maroon 5, Taylor Swift and Disclosure on today’s Official Singles Chart Top 40.
