New entries and high climbers

Swedish DJ and producer Avicii opens at Number 6 with his second studio album Stories, and veteran new wave band Squeeze are set to earn their first Top 40 entry in 22 years this week with Cradle To The Grave, which debuts at Number 7. The band, who released their first album in 1978, have only ever previously entered the Top 10 with greatest hits albums; 1982’s Singles, 1992’s Greatest Hits, and 2002’s The Very Best Of.

Elsewhere, Janet Jackson could be looking at her first Top 10 album in 14 years this week (since 2001’s All For You) with Unbreakable, currently at 8, and last week’s Number 1 Caracal by Disclosure slips to 9.

Maryland rockers Clutch could be making their UK Top 40 debut this week with their 11th album Psychic Warfare at 12, US metal band Trivium start at 13 with their seventh album Silence In The Snow, and The Shires, who are currently on their UK tour, vault back into the Top 40 with Brave at 18.

Further down the chart, Foster & Allen start at 29 with Celebration, US rockers Mercury Rev debut at 30 with The Light In You, and the first of two Paul McCartney re-issues, 1982’s Tug Of War, enters at 33. His 1983 album Pipes Of Peace also lands at 40.

Finally, Wasp’s Golgotha (35) and Joe Bonamassa’s Radio City Music Hall (39) are currently on course to enter this week’s Top 40.
