A new documentary film about Liam Gallagher's solo career has been announced.

Liam Gallagher: As It Was will be directed by documentary-maker Charlie Lightening and follows the story of how Liam went from Oasis superstar to "living on the edge, ostracised lost in the musical wilderness of boredom, booze and bitter legal battles."

Charlie's previous credits include films for Robbie Williams, Bjork, and Kasabian as well as the Sandy Hook benefit concert film 12/12/12. The film is produced by Steven Lappin, who worked on Springsteen and I and George Michael's TV doc Freedom.

Liam said: "As It Was is a documentary about my musical comeback. It covers the writing and recording of my first solo album, right through to playing it live for the very first time in my hometown of Manchester and around the world. I hope you enjoy the film… As You Were."

The feature also includes Liam's performances from Reading, The Ritz, One Love Manchester and Glastonbury and will finish with his sell-out gig in Finsbury Park.

Last year saw Liam top the Official Albums Chart with his solo debut album As You Were, following two successful albums as frontman of band Beady Eye. Watch Liam celebrate his first solo Number 1 album below:
