Liam Payne producer Steve Mac has high praise for his upcoming album: "It’s going to be hit to hit to hit"
The music producer behind Top 10 hits for Ed Sheeran, Clean Bandit and Liam Payne has shared details of the latter's upcoming debut album.
Steve Mac, winner of this year's Best British Producer prize at the BRIT Awards, produced Liam's Strip That Down and also co-produced Ed Sheeran's Shape of You, now the most streamed song of all time. Both songs are battling it out for Best British Single at the 2018 BRITs.
So, how good is Liam's upcoming album sounding? Steve shared some details with Music Week: "Do you know what, I’ve heard a lot of his stuff and I think it’s going to be a great album," he said. "I think it’s going to be a compilation album. I wouldn’t say it’s a body of work that will flow, but what I like is that it’s going to be hit to hit to hit. And in my world, those are the best albums."
Liam himself recently described the upcoming collection, which doesn't have a release date yet, as a "playlist", adding: "[It's] my favourite playlist of songs that I have made over the past year. So, some slow jams, there's a couple of dance songs on there, with some R&B stuff."
Steve also shared details on other artists he is working with in 2018: "I've been lucky enough this year to work with Chvrches, who I love. I’ve got a Years & Years track, Bastille... Nick Jonas, and hopefully I’m just about to start working with Katy Perry as well. The opportunities at the moment are incredible. I never thought I’d be here in my career 27 years on."
When Steve was announced as the Best British Producer recipient earlier this year, OfficialCharts.com looked back at some of Steve's forgotten gems from over the years, including 5ive and Kate Winslet.
