Labrinth names new album Take Me To The Truth: “I want it to be innovative”
The singer talks to OfficialCharts.com about the meaning behind the title of his forthcoming LP.
Labrinth has announced the title of his second studio album as Take Me To The Truth.
The singer and producer’s new album, which includes new single Let It Be, is expected to be released later this year.
Explaining the meaning behind the title of the LP, he told OfficialCharts.com: “I had some time off music to go out and do normal things. I went on holiday, got the bus, the tube – all the things you don’t do when you’re promoting and touring. I had to stop being Labrinth for a while.
“That’s why I called the album Take Me To The Truth, because I wanted to return to where I was in terms of enjoying music, and I was trying to make something innovative, instead of just trying to be famous and successful and trying to prove myself as an artist. I thought, what the f**k do I want to do in the world?”
Labrinth also revealed he’s already lined up the singles for the record, adding: “I’ve got some great records coming that I’m really proud of. On this album I just wanted to sing and for people to hear my vocal.
“I made that mistake on the last album – I didn’t really sing. I hope people enjoy my voice as well as the production.”
Labrinth’s debut album, Electronic Earth, peaked at Number 2 on the Official Albums Chart in 2012 and included the Top 10 hits Let The Sun Shine, Earthquake, Last Time and chart-topping Beneath You’re Beautiful.
His new single, Let It Be, is released on September 28. Watch the official music video below:
