Foals battle The Weeknd for Official Albums Chart top spot
There’s an almighty battle for Number 1 on this week’s Official Albums Chart, as Foals go head to head with The Weeknd.
Indie rockers Foals are currently leading the way with their fourth album What Went Down. The band’s current chart best was with 2013’s Holy Fire, which landed at Number 2.
Less than 5,000 combined sales behind is The Weeknd’s Beauty Behind The Madness. The album features collaborations with Lana Del Rey and Ed Sheeran and includes Top 10 hits Earned It and Can’t Feel My Face.
Last week’s Number 1 I Cry When I Laugh by Jess Glynne slips to 3 on today’s Update, Ella Eyre starts at Number 4 with her debut album Feline, and Motorhead’s Bad Magic – the band’s 22nd album – is new at 5.
New entries and high climbers
Rising US singer Halsey is set to make her Official Chart debut this week with her new album Badlands, currently at 8, and US pop band Beach House debut at 16 with Depression Cherry.
Further down the chart, The Faces enter at 22 with their box set release 1970-1975 You Can Make Me Dance Sing, Van Morrison’s The Essential is new at 27 following his 70th birthday concerts last weekend, and The Jimi Hendrix Experience land at 29 with Freedom – Atlanta Pop Festival.
Finally, Yo La Tengo’s Stuff Like That There (34) and GTR’s self-titled album (40) could be entering this Friday’s Official Albums Chart Top 40.
