Ed Sheeran's ÷ surpasses three million combined sales
There's no stopping Ed Sheeran.
Some great news for Ed prior to his four sell-out shows at Wembley Arena next month, his latest album ÷ has now sold over three million combined units, the Official Charts Company can reveal.
This week's Official Albums Chart Update sees Ed sit at Number 8 with combined sales of 7,189. Adding them to ÷'s combined sales tally puts the record at 3,004,684, made up of 1,822,719 physical copies, 455,529 digital downloads, plus 719,247 stream equivalent sales.
Passing the three million threshold means that ÷ is now the 11th biggest album of the millennium, overtaking Lady Gaga's The Fame and Only By The Night by Kings of Leon when sales and streams are combined. With 5.08 million combined sales, Adele's 21 is the biggest album of the millennium so far.
Other accolades ÷ has to its name include being the fastest-selling album ever by a male solo artist, the third fastest-selling album of all time behind Adele’s 21 and Oasis’ Be Here Now, and the studio album to feature more Top 10 singles on it than any other.
