Drake makes Official Chart history with God's Plan and One Dance
Drake has spent more weeks at Number 1 as a lead artist than any other this millennium.
One word comes to mind when you think about Drake and the charts: longevity.
On last Friday's Official Singles Chart, the Canadian rapper spent a ninth week at Number 1 with God's Plan, joining 20 other tracks who have spent at least nine weeks at Number 1, including Bryan Adams' (Everything I Do) I Do It For You and Rihanna's Umbrella to name just two. See which 21 hits have spent nine weeks or more at Number 1 here.
However, Drake is the only artist in Official Charts history to have two songs in the UK's longest-reigning list, following the success of One Dance, his 15-week Number 1 from 2016.
Drake's chart endurance of the two hit singles now surpasses Frankie Laine's feat, which dates back over six decades to 1953. Frankie managed nine consecutive weeks with I Believe and eight consecutive weeks with Answer Me, the previous best performance for an artist in this area.
Spending a combined 24 weeks at the helm of the Official Singles Chart as a lead artist, Drake has now spent more weeks at Number 1 as a headline act than any other act this millennium.
Factoring in credits as a featured artist, Justin Bieber takes home the top spot overall with 30 combined weeks at Number 1 across six chart topping singles, to Drake's 25, including his feature on Rihanna's What's My Name.
