Bad Blood benefits from the BRITs effect to reclaim Number 1 album slot, according to latest sales data. And it’s great news for Arctic Monkeys, Ellie Goulding and Rudimental.
They took home the BRIT Award for British Breakthrough and now another prize is in sight – Bastille are in with a shot of going back to Number 1 on the Official Albums Chart. Following the group’s energetic performance with Best British Single winners Rudimental and looking at the first full days of sales after the BRITs, their debut album Bad Blood has leapt nine places to the top spot in the latest sales flash. Sales of the album, which features hit singles Pompeii and Of The Night, have increased by a whopping 269% since Wednesday’s BRIT Awards. Pompeii itself also enjoys a sales surge, rocketing 38 places to re-enter the Top 40, landing at Number 23.
The mashup performance of Pompeii and Waiting All Night that Bastille sang with Rudimental at Wednesday’s BRIT Awards is also making a showing: it’s new in at Number 43 according to latest sales data.
Arctic Monkeys also enjoy a lift thank to their double BRITs win for Mastercard Album of the Year and Best British Group. Latest album AM zooms nine places to Number 2 – can they overtake Bastille to nab the Official Albums Chart crown? It ain’t over ‘til it’s over…
Rudimental’s album Home is back in the Top 10, increasing by 279%. Best British Female winner Ellie Goulding is also burning her way through plenty of sales – Halcyon’s sales have surged by 104% since before the show.
Over on the Official Singles Chart, Critics’ Choice winner Sam Smith’s Money On My Mind is still holding Pharrell Williams off the top spot. Sam’s ballad Lay Me Down also gets a big boost, thanks to BRIT Awards presenter James Corden urging viewers to listen to the track.
Also benefitting from the BRITs effect is Beyoncé. Since she performed XO at Wednesday’s BRIT Awards, sales of the song have surged by 252%, sending it whizzing back into the Top 40. Her duet with hubby Jay Z has also got a lift – sales are up 77% and the track currently sits at Number 13. Can it break its way back into the Top 10 by Sunday?
