DEAD OR ALIVE

Dead Or Alive were an English pop band formed in 1980 in Liverpool by lead singer, songwriter and and eye-patch fan Pete Burns (born August 5, 1959 in Port Sunlight, Cheshire – died October 23, 2016). Dead Or Alive formed from the ashes of Nightmares In Wax, with the key hit line-up comprising of Burns, Mike Percy (bass), Steve Coy (drums) and Tim Lever (keyboards). Dead Or Alive released a handful of indie singles, but had their big chart breakthrough in 1985 when they were the first group to take a Stock Aitken and Waterman composition and make it a UK Official Singles Chart Number 1 with You Spin Me Round (Like A Record). Dead Or Alive sold over 50 million records worldwide and ceased to be after Pete died in 2016.

In your description of Dead or Alive, you claim they were the first act to take a Stock Aitken Waterman composition to no 1 with You Spin Me Round (Like a Record). That song was written by the band. SAW produced it.
