BLONDIE

Blondie emerged from the New York punk and new wave movements of the mid-Seventies. Formed in 1974 by singer Debbie Harry and guitarist Chris Stein, Blondie broke through into the mainstream with the launch of their Parallel Lines album in 1978.

Blondie’s debut appearance on the UK Official Chart was in February 1978 with Denis, a year later they would reach Number 1 for the first time with their classic Heart Of Glass, the first of six UK Number 1 singles for the band. Blondie’s UK Number 1s include Heart Of Glass, Sunday Girl, Atomic, Call Me, Tide Is High and Maria earned them a chart-topping renaissance in 1999.

Blondie also enjoyed two Number 1 albums - Parallel Lines and Eat To The Beat. They disbanded after their sixth studio album in 1982 and Debbie Harry went on to pursue a solo career.

That's a bit of an omission. So 20 top 40 hits not 19. 24 all in all if you include solo hits. And one of their most famous songs wasn't even a UK single. Guess which one?

yes it is included here as a reentry of the original 1979 single rather than as a seperate single - its wrong here but that is what they have done
