CHEMICAL BROTHERS

Chemical Brothers are a British electronic duo who first formed in Manchester in 1989, consisting of Ed Simons (born June 9, 1970 in Herne Hill, London) and Tom Rowlands (born January 11, 1971 in Kingston upon Thames, London). Chemical Brothers originally started out under the name Dust Brothers after the pair who’d produced Beastie Boys’ Paul’s Boutique until they were informed (legally) that they were still a thing, and so opted for the Chemical moniker instead.

Chemical Brothers began DJing at a club named Naked Under Leather, and after they’d began making their own tracks, were championed by Andrew Weatherall after they gave him a copy of their first song Song To The Siren. The pair have enjoyed a string of hit songs, occasionally featuring guest vocalists such as Q-Tip, Bernard Sumner, Noel Gallagher, Flaming Lips and Tim Burgess on tracks such as Leave Home, Star Guitar, Go, Galvanize and two UK Official Single Chart Number 1s: 1996’s Setting Sun and 1997’s Block Rockin’ Beats. They've also clocked up six UK Official Album Chart Number 1s with titles such as Dig Your Own Hole, Surrender, Come With Us and Born In The Echoes.

Chemical Brothers have also been one of the top live attractions across the world of the last twenty years, thanks to their pioneering, psychedelic and hallucinogenic rave-ups. The dance duo have been nominated for nine BRIT Awards and won one for Best British Dance Act in 2000, as well as nominated for the Mercury Award twice.
