Take Me Home was the debut solo single of English singer Sophie Ellis-Bextor.
A cover of Cher's 1979 disco song, originally written by Michele Aller and Bob Esty, Take Me Home was the lead single from Sophie Ellis-Bextor's debut studio album Read My Lips.
Sophie Ellis-Bextor's version of Take Me Home was released as a single in August 2001 and peaked at Number 2 on the Official Singles Chart, it stayed in the Top 10 for four weeks. The song showcased rewritten lyrics and a video by Sophie Muller featuring Ellis-Bextor in an array of high-couture outfits.
Take Me Home marked the first of three consecutive Top 5 singles for Sophie Ellis-Bextor at the beginning of her solo career. Its follow-up single Murder On The Dancefloor also peaked at Number 2 in December 2001, while third single Get Over You/Move This Mountain entered the Official Singles Chart at Number 3 in June 2002.
