LONG HAIRED LOVER FROM LIVERPOOL
by LITTLE JIMMY OSMOND

Long Haired Lover from Liverpool was written by Christopher Kingsley (credited as Christopher Dowden on the UK release) and had originally been released by him in 1969 to no success whatsoever bar some radio play in the US. The song became the debut single, and first of three hits, for the Californian-born Little Jimmy Osmond, who at nine years and eight months, was the youngest ever artist to achieve an UK Official Singles Chart Number 1.

In what was a period of Osmondmania, while Little Jimmy was at the top, his siblings The Osmonds held the Number 5 position with Crazy Horses and the swoony pin-up elder brother Donny Osmond was at Number 9 with Why. Long Haired Lover from Liverpool entered the chart at Number 49 at the end of November, climbing to the top on its fifth week on the list, to spend five weeks – and Christmas – at Number 1.
