Somebody That I Used To Know is a duet by Austalian-Belgian singer Gotye and New Zealand singer Kimbra, the song reached Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart in February 2012.
Written, produced and performed by Gotye, the quirky ode to lost love was released as the second single from Gotye's third studio album Making Mirrors in December 2011, entering the Official Chart for the first time in January 2012 before six weeks later ascending to Number 1 on 12 February. It spent a total of five non-consecutive weeks at Number 1.
The million-selling Somebody That I Used To Know went on to become the best-selling song of 2012, just ahead of Carly Rae Jepsen's Call Me Maybe, in what was the biggest year on record for annual sales of singles in the UK, with 188.6 million singles purchased thanks to the peak of the digital download era.
