GHOST

Arriving like a bolt of lightning from the sky, Ella Henderson's debut single sounded like nothing that came before it, and nothing has sounded quite like it ever since.
"I keep going to the river to pray," Ella howls on the chorus, "cos I need, something that can wash out the pain."
Written in the US with hitmaker Ryan Tedder and the last song completed for Ella's debut album, Ghost was created during a time of deep uncertainty, with Ella unsure if she had completed her label's demands for a massive lead single.
And there is no denying that Ghost sounds massive; a rollicking American banger, whose vaguely mythic, gothic quality is only compounded by the single's equally bold music video, clearly inspired by the first season of True Detective.
Ghost debuted at Number 1 in the UK in June 2014, not only confirming that Ella's instincts were right, but that she had created something in Ghost where many former X Factor alumni had failed; a pop song that was truly original.
