BACKBONE, released 8 August 2024, sees pioneering electronic duo Chase & Status collaborate with British rap superstar, Stormzy.
Merging Chase & Status's signature high-energy beats with Stormzy's powerful and commanding lyricism, BACKBONE is the coming together of two musical titans from different genres. Fans got a first taste of BACKBONE at Coachella earlier in 2024, where Chase & Status debuted the track during their live set. The buzz continued to build, culminating in Stormzy putting in a surprise electrifying appearance at Chase & Status's Ushuaïa Ibiza takeover which went viral.
“We are so gassed to work with the legend that is Stormzy. We’ve always wanted to bring his energy into our world and this are so excited for the fans to hear this collaboration,” said Chase & Status's Saul Milton and Will Kennard.
On 16 August BACKBONE landed straight in at Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart, giving Chase & Status their first-ever UK Number 1 single.
Chase & Status continue to push the boundaries of modern music. Earlier in 2024 they won the prestigious Producer Of The Year award at The BRIT Awards, and the year before became the first artist since 2010 to have four records in the UK Top 40 at once.
