TURN THE LIGHTS BACK ON
by BILLY JOEL
Billy Joel's romantic ballad Turn The Lights Back On was released 1 February 2024 through Columbia Records, marking Joel's first new music since 2007's All My Life.
The song, which was made available on streaming platforms and limited edition 7" vinyl, was written by Joel, Freddy Wexler (who produced the track), Arthur Bacon, and Wayne Hector, and as described by a record label press release, contains the "hallmarks of his signature sound".
Turn The Lights On's music video, directed by Warren Fu and Freddy Wexler, employs artificial intelligence technology to portray younger versions of Joel performing the song. It depicts Joel in different eras of the 74 year-old singer's career, from Piano Man to River Of Dreams.
Billy performed Turn The Lights On at the 66th Grammy Awards, the song was released a few months ahead of his decade-long monthly residency coming to an end at Madison Square Gardens.
