New Music Friday - this week's biggest new song, album and DVD releases, all in one place

New Music Friday Songs Albums Singles April 4th 2025

Welcome to New Music Friday, your one place to discover the biggest new song, album and DVD releases.

Let's start with this week's crop of stellar singles, led by Ed Sheeran. He'll be aiming for his 15th Number 1 with Azizam, the Persian-influenced lead single from his upcoming eighth album Play.

This would be a major milestone for Ed – one that would put him a clear third on the all-time list behind Elvis Presley (21 Number 1s) and The Beatles (18). At present, he's sitting in joint third with Cliff Richard and Westlife, who each have 14 Number 1s too.

Meanwhile, the inimitable Miley Cyrus is returning with End of the World, the first single from her upcoming visual album Something Beautiful. The versatile pop queen already has nine Top 10 singles to her name – could this be the 10th?

Also back are Grammy and BRIT Award winners Wet Leg, who release Catch These Fists, the first single from the follow-up to their chart-topping debut.

There are also new singles from the queen of Swag herself, Cher Lloyd, who debuts Green Light, and PinkPantheress, who drops Tonight.

Elton John and Brandi Carlile's Who Believes In Angels?

Now, onto this week's albums.

The legendary Elton John has teamed up with Americana queen Brandi Carlile for the collaborative album Who Believes in Angels?, which features songs the duo co-wrote with Elton's longtime collaborator Bernie Taupin. If it storms to the top next week, it'll become Elton's 10th Number 1 album and Brandi's first.

They'll face strong competition from Cambridge's experimental rock crew Black Country, New Road. Their previous two albums peaked at Number Four and Number 3 respectively. Can they go one or two places better with their third album Forever Howlong

Djo – the musical alias of Stranger Things actor Joe Kerry – is also dropping his third album this week, titled The Crux. He'll be hoping to make his Official Albums Chart debut, having cracked the Official Singles Chart last year with the nostalgic bop End of Beginning, which peaked at Number 4.
