i think we re gonna see many older names back in the charts

people just hate to see madonna win at this point. kylie wasn’t even involved or mentioned in any of the madonna news so why bring her up?

instead of comparing x and y just celebrate your favourite artists’ success without bringing up another. trust me, you’ll be a much happier person.

from my pov? well done to madonna for being a legend, well done to the weeknd for getting her there, and as for playboi carti… please drop that album. i know you gave us singles but we want them on spotify along with the album. please release it 🥺

well checking out the top 10, that's GREAT to see madonna in the top 10.  her debut album in 1983 was my very first album i ever bought, i was 8 yrs old that yr.  & madonna has been a lifelong idol of mine.  i've had the pleasure seeing her in the hot 100 top 10 many times over the years.

ok, to the kylie minogue & madonna fans fighting each other...BOTH artists are great!  also, they're BOTH cool with each other and have a lot of respect for each other.  so why are you all fighting for?  there's room for the BOTH of them to succeed.  it's OK if madonna is in the top 10 & not kylie & vice versa.  if you want kylie in the top 10, then work harder to put her in the top 10.  but there's no need to fight with anyone over it.

hey what's up everyone!  have you all checked out justin timberlake's new music?  really good!  he's creating a lot of buzz here in the states.  i myself am gonna see him this summer in concert....can't wait!!  he's had an amazing career here in america and i've personally had the pleasure of seeing him on the billboard charts, esp. the hot 100 chart, since his very first u.s. hit 'i want you back' with nsync in 1998!  fun times!!

also this time in 2000 over here, nsync's lead single off their huge album 'no strings attached', 'bye bye bye' was released.  peaked @ #4 on the hot 100 chart & they opened the 2000 american music awards.  they were hands down in my opinion, the HOTTEST act in the states that year!  the momentum they had was crazy!  the 'no strings attached' album sold 1.1 mill. copies the FIRST DAY! and sold 10 mill. albums in just 3 months!  yep!  i still remember the album locking the #1 spot on the billboard 200 albums chart for 8 straight wks.

so everyone, i HIGHLY recommend you all checking nsync's past work, esp. the 'no strings attached' album.  that album was breaking all kinds of sales records over here and went on the become billboard's #1 album of the year.  back then, i had NO idea justin timberlake would later on become this huge solo artist!  the 2000's was a FUN decade over here to live in!  so much great music, hard to believe all that was 20+ yrs ago.  so here's nsync's performance @ the 2000 ama's for you all to check out: https://www.youtube.c*m/watch?v=B8GJlozLqzc

One more point on Madonna which I haven't seen mentioned anywhere, unless I've missed it... correct me if I'm wrong but the previous oldest female to have a top 10 single was Tina Turner with 'When The Heartache Is Over' in 1999, aged 59 years 11 months. So Madonna at 65 now holds this record too.

Brenda Lee was in the Top 10 again just a few weeks ago with Rocking Around The Christmas Tree. She's 79. It's an old song, admittedly, but then so was Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill.

Popular is a new song, so the songs you've listed don't count.

"Mentally unstable" it says....after you've spent a decade or more on websites and forums like this attacking Madonna and her fans.

avatar

I assume you're talking about yourself there. I haven't spent a decade discussing Grandonna on any websites and forums. Mainly because she has been IRRELEVANT for the past decade. You're the psychotic loser with no life or friends that keeps coming on here trying to attack Kylie Minogue and her fans, purely because she continues to have no.1 albums whereas Grandonna doesn't. Perhaps Grandonna should just stick to her old material (as she has done on her latest tour) because her newer stuff just flops. Perhaps she could even rework some of her old hits, since all of them could stand some improvement.

"Every little thing that I say or do....

Have to laugh at middle aged Kylie fans being ageist and calling Madonna 'Grandonna'.  Madonna has yet to become a grandmother and she will, one day.  Unlike the BARREN SPINSTER OF POP, who will never have grandchildren.  Oh, and Kylie fans have been calling Madonna 'Grandma' since her late 40s, what does that make the 55 year old, childless, maiden aunt?!

avatar

At least Kylie doesn't go out BUYING children from Africa, which Grandonna has done. Partly for publicity (as ever), and partly because her own kids didn't want anything to do with her. Her own son didn't even want to live with her and preferred to live with his father (Guy Ritchie). Even after Grandonna took the matter to court, which she lost. It's hardly surprising. Who would want that embarrassing old sk@nk as a mother?

So happy Madonna is back in the Top 10, almost exactly 40 years after her first time!  Just like I was so happy when Kylie did this last year.

‘Padam’ actually stopped ‘Popular’ making the Top 10 on its first attempt (Padam was #10 and Popular was #11) which was difficult in terms of how I felt as a massive Kylie and massive Madonna fan! Situation resolved today :)

Not the Kylie and Madonna stans still going at each other on this site! 💀

Both of them have had fantastic careers and are incredibly influential women in the history of pop and disco music. Why can't you support your own favourite artists instead of finding excuses to trash others?

You'll find yourselves being a lot happier and much less of an embarrassment.

avatar

Btw this doesn't apply to ALL fans of either artist. I know there are some people on here who are respectful towards both fanbases but it's a shame that there at least a couple who aren't.

hey mate, you sound exactly like me back on the hot 100 page back in the day LOL!  that's crazy that madonna & kylie fans are fighting, cuz they both are cool with each other.  this is exactly what *ed me off on the hot 100 page...fandoms fighting each other.  why can't there be room for every artist to succeed?  that's how i always saw it.  the gaga & katy perry fans would constantly fight to the point billboard suspended the comments feature.

oh i'm planning a trip to the east coast this summer to see justin timberlake in concert!  can't wait!  i'll keep you updated.

What happened with the top 40 list? It shows new entries which coming from the top 100 of last week as “climbers”. Those are in fact New Entries in the top 40 and should be shown as NEW! This was the logic for the past 40 years since I started following uk charts… why change? Hope is just a site update mistake, please fix it.

NC

Newman callum

1

It has always been like that, if a song enters at 75 then gose into the top 40 the 2nd week then it is not new to the chart

C

cristian.saboszlay

0

It is not new to the chart (top 100) but it is new to the top 40 isn’t it? So when looking only into the Top 40 it should appear as New. That was the way until the website update done last year…

G

I'm so happy Madonna (aka The Queen of Pop) scores her 64th UK top 10 hit (which already seems to be infuriating Kylie fans). lol

avatar

Voodoo

-2

Why would it infuriate Kylie fans? Madonna had to hang on to the Weeknd's shirt tails to get another hit. Kylie, meanwhile, did it by herself with Padam Padam.

G

Gery

-2

The fact you're here defending Kylie says it all.

Padam Padam was plugged everywhere, whereas Popular wasn't. It's laughable how every nasty little prediction always ends up blowing up in your faces. First it was "Finally Enough Love" will be out of the chart in it's second week, which of course wasn't. Then her fans said... "October" which resulted in them being proven wrong again. (It's still on the album chart now) lol. Then it was "Madonna will never score another top 10 single ever again", but now she has it's "all thanks to the Weekend", despite her Spotify numbers increasing - which btw are almost quintuple the amount of Kylie's. lol No doubt Kylie's fans have already (foolishly) predicted her new collaboration with SIA will go top 5. lol

avatar

Voodoo

-2

FYI, I'm neither a fan of Kylie or Madonna. But your endless defensiveness over this tired old has-been has long been tired in itself. It's a fact that Madonna needed to grab onto the Weeknd (who is a far bigger chart act than she is these days) in order to get another hit, let alone a Top 10. It's also a fact that tired old Madonna has been miming on her recent tour and taking three hours to appear on stage, which has prompted some of her fans to sue her. What's up..... can't grandma get into her surgical stockings and incontinence knickers fast enough anymore? I wouldn't be too proud of her "Finally Enough Cash" album hanging around the chart for the time it has, as most of that time has been at the bottom end (out of the Top 75) and even then because it sold so slowly when it first came out. When was Madonna's last UK no.1 album? 12 years ago. In that time, Kylie has had FOUR no.1 albums, the most recent of which was just four months ago.

Like I said, I'm a fan of neither, but the truth is the truth.

G

Gery

-3

I will continue defending her as long as there's weirdos like you running around back and forth all over the internet downplaying her success and achievements. Either build a bridge and get over it or shut up and accept it.

Whether the Weeknd is a bigger chart act right now is irrelevant, considering she's been there and done that and has 64 top 10 hits to prove it. Kylie doesn't even have half of that. lol

The Weeknd asked Madonna to be on Popular, not the other way around. There's a video on YT to prove it, along with the fact he spoke about wanting to produce her next album, so she can't be all that tired if she has HIS approval. Other FAR less important no marks or loud mouthed bitter plebs like you will have to deal with it.

She hasn't been miming on the tour either, but even if she has then wtf do you care? Surely it would be better for your mental health to focus on celebrities you like instead of one's you don't.

Finally Enough Love has been on the charts for longer than you all expected, and the fact it's been on the chart for far longer than any of Kylie's albums since 2001 is the cherry on the cake.

The Disco Dolly's global chart numbers are pitiful compared to Madonna's, they're really not worth posting - either chart or streaming.

I almost feel sorry for her.

D

djcarbines

0

It's clearly the Weeknd's record. Madonna is the lowest billed guest artist on his record. It's not Madonna ft. Weeknd is it?

I don't know what the Kylie fans said, but the album ended it's first top 75 in October, so I was right. It hasn't had consecutive weeks since.

Although it is amusing watching Madonna fans so desperate to pretend she's still relevent, they resort to counting non-canon weeks below the top 75 because there are no real hits of her own. Positions 76-100 haven't counted since 1989, but are recorded for industry purposes.

Otherwise objectivity goes out the window with Madonna fans.

I expect the Sia record to hit the top 55 if it gets release. (That's TWO '5' s - not a typo)

D

djcarbines

-3

Madonna might have 'been there, done that', but not in her collaborators' lifetime. The fact Weeknd asked Madonna rather than the other way round, is even more evidence it's his record not hers. If it was her record, she'd do the asking.

G

Gery

-3

Not as amusing as watching you try to erase the chart from 75 onwards to discredit Madonna.

Even though you keep saying it, it's still remains the biggest laugh I'll ever have on here, considering the charts go from 1-100, and that is something I will CONTINUE to say for as long as I live.

If Popular going top 10 means so little and Madonna was so irrelevant, then why are the trolls running rampant trying to downplay her involvement?

If it was the Weeknd's track then why does it say "WITH playboi Carti and Madonna" in the credits?

https://i.ibb.co/zh1Gw78/22222.jpg

Even if you say "Oh, but she's listed last", it still says "performed by MADONNA, Playboi Carti and The Weeknd", so you can't win whatever the fk you say. lol.

I knew obsessive Madonna haters would have a meltdown over this and I was right. It's literally pushing them over the edge.

Weirdo's? Erm....missed the day at school where they were teaching the use of apostrophes? Too busy listening to rubbish music I'd imagine.

Finally Enough Cash (so called because it's just another desperate cash grab, much like her recent tour) took seven months just to earn a silver disc. Kylie's recent album took three weeks. Kylie's Disco album was Silver within two weeks and Gold within six weeks. Madame X took almost THREE YEARS to go Silver and hasn't even managed Gold. Rebel Heart took FIVE YEARS to go Gold, whereas Kylie's Golden album did it in three months. Are you seeing the difference in performance here? Or are you just hellbent on trying to make Grandma's failures look like successes because there's nothing else in your sorry little life? I really wouldn't feel sorry for Kylie if I were you. Grandonna is far more in need of your sympathy.

Grandonna is a has-been. And she has been miming on her recent tour, as various professional critics have pointed out. Probably can't remember the words at her age. Nowadays, she's little more than a glorified drag queen. After her recent plastic surgery faux pas, she looks like one too.

I think you need to get your doctor to change your meds. You're getting too emotional and overwrought about irrelevant matters. Such as Grandonna.

It says "WITH playboi Carti and Madonna" in the credits, because that's exactly what they are - credits. Weeknd is main and first billed artist. The only main artist. Anyone listed (on any record at all, not just this one) after the 'with', 'guest', 'featuring', 'vs' etc. are secondary artists. Like I say, she's not even the first billed 'guest' artist!

I don't count below the top 75 for anyone. Especially these days where the equivalent sales must be literally in just the few dozen. Positions below 75 only counted from August 1981-January 1989 and even then, on the album chart, not singles.

TL

The BARREN SPINSTER OF POP's streaming numbers are PITIFUL as are most of her box office scores.  This proves she's a FANBASE ONLY act whose records sell in MULTIPLE FORMATS to a bunch of MIDDLE-AGED, RABID FOLLOWERS.  Given their age, said formats will end up in LANDFILL before too long.

D

Say the charts go 1-100 for as long you live if you like. But that is simply not true. 'the charts' go down MUCH further than that (at least to 200, for industry analysis purposes) for at least the last 30 years, of which it was always the top 75 considered canon.

Presumably these days it can go down to literally every record that sells even a single copy - 10's of thousands or more. Possibly even less than a single copy if it sells no downloads/physical and the streaming doesn't reach the sales equivalent ratio.

You're right though, Madonna's and Kylie's COMBINED worldwide streaming is pitiful given their former popularity. Barely enough to get a top 40 on their own. Having just watched an old (1995) episode of TOTP, a record failed to reach the top 10 with 70,000 sales. Today, in weeks without a big headline release, that would be #1 by a considerable margin in most weeks.

It says WITH, not featuring, which means they're equals. Even if you disregard all that and continue your petty rant, Madonna still has another top 10 single regardless, so there's fk all you can do about it. How about you go and cry to the OCC and see if you can get her name removed from the single? lol

The letters displayed at the top of this page says "Official Singles Chart Top 100",  and the album chart has the same wording except for "singles". You can go through all the mental gymnastics you like, but that's what it says, and that's what I'm going by.

Why don't you just sign in as "Grandma X" named after her last pitiful FLOP album and give us all a good laugh.

Grandonna only has a top 10 single because of The Weeknd, and there's fk all you can do about that. She's just a PASSENGER. The last time she had one by herself was 15 years ago, thats how irrelevant and WASHED UP the talentless hag is. In fact, she's not even been Top 20 since then. Her last Top 40 entry was the song where she fell off the stage at The Brit awards in 2015. Oh man, I never get tired of watching that on YouTube. Crappy song but it was hilarious. She came crashing down....just like her career.

Just can't handle the truth, can you pumpkin.

I've been studying the charts, the hits in them and the artists that have them since long before this website was up and running. In fact almost from before the time of internet at all, using contemporary sources. I've also studied using sources right back to the beginning of the chart (14/11/52), and there are several examples showing that the 'with' credit is very much not equal. Some have been credited on the physical disc after the 'with', and are given no official chart mention at all. The Mellomen being a prime example, backing the likes of Doris Day and Rosemary Clooney. They even get an 'and' credit on a #1 hit (which you could reasonably expect to be considered equal), but no mention here as they have no hits as primary artists. If the current era were on physical records, we could tell by the hierachy of the typography, or by membership of certain organisations (e.g. The Featured Artists Coalition), but no.

Having done such studies, including meticulously researching and auditing every single position on both charts for their entire history - all 1.6 million of them, I know that, while this site titles it's pages "top 100", most are retrospective and not contemporary, as verified by contemporary print sources. That in itself brings in to question the validity of a top 100. Not to mention the number of errors and inconsistancies on this site! Much of it is data overload and it's almost statistically meaningless down there.

Even if you consider it valid, it's far more impressive to have 5 weeks in the top 10 than it is to have 50 in the top 100, especially when the vast majority of those weeks are below #75, let alone a much more respectable #40. One week in the top 5 can easily outsell a whole year at the bottom end of the top 100.

D

djcarbines

-1

Let's face it, even Cher (professional since Madonna was in nappies), has been top 5 on the albums and top 20 on the singles chart ON HER OWN this year. [last 12 months]. Beating the last 8 years of solo originals by Madonna in one (very seasonal) release! Not to mention Closer To The Truth and Dancing Queen that take here way above Madonna's achievements in the same time period of the last 10 years. The latter 'only' having 14 weeks, but every one of them in the top 75. It's 16 years and counting since Madonna achieved 14 top 75 weeks with any album at all.

G

Gery

0

Dense Kylie fans proving once again they don't know jack s h * t

Cher's one and only top 20 solo single in 23 years does not trump Madonna's 10 top 20s within the last 19 years. lmao.

Cher hasn't troubled the UK top 10 since 2001 prior to her cheap and nasty Christmas ditty, whereas Madonna has had TEN SOLO top 10 singles since then (I won't even bother counting the previous year when she released worldwide smash hit "Music" and "Don't Tell Me") since it would be more embarrassing for poor old Cher.

You basically said it yourself that Cher's latest was a "very seasonal" release, and Christmas songs always do well on the charts, but putting that aside let's have a deeper look at the facts without taking David Carbines bitter word for it.

Cher's been in the music business for 60 years, and released 27 studio albums, yet all she could manage was ONE measley UK #1 studio album and 4#1 singles - the majority of which happened 30 years ago. Two out of four #1 singles was a cover and a charity single. Believe was her only real genuine bonafide solo hit. Madonna has had TWELVE #1 albums and 13#1 singles, so don't even go there.

As for you screaming about Dancing Queen, we both know that's only because of her correlation to Abba, which you previously condemned Madonna for "leeching off" in the past.

Closer to the truth went to #4 only because she was on the X-factor, otherwise it would've bombed as much as Living Proof did. Even her Believe album peaked at #7 despite the single.

You should've sat there and ate your food, honeybun.

Chart Review 02/02/24

I thought about doing some wacky gimmick for this review but I decided not to.

Maybe next time. THIS TIME, though, it's time for another round of playing it straight. And by that I mean taking the micky out of whatever has breached the best-sellers every Friday, whilst complimenting the odd song every now and again. Such is the ways of the college student. Given I'm supposed to be making 10-second snippets of popular tunes, then raising or lowering the pitch by several octaves, it makes me look sorta lame. My reviewing technique is reminiscent of those somewhat tongue-in-cheek comments made by the NME in the late-90s, something the Internet Archive can tell you more about. Seriously, look up what they had to say about Moby's Play or The Seahorses's Do It Yourself and you have a good idea of what I'm about.

I'm also prone to going off-topic. Like right now. How 'bout I go ON-topic again, eh?

Noah Kahan is No.1 again. Shock horror. You can't actually see the surprise on my face because it's being drowned out by BOREDOM. For the first time this year, there are no actual big new entries to dent the Top 20. Slight problem, given that the 6 debutants this week range from the bland to OMIGOSH THESE LOT HAVE MORE RIZZ THAN MY PREVIOUS FAVE!!. Or something like that.

For now though, terrible records are back in fashion. Sophie Ellis-Bextor's Murder On The Dancefloor may be getting on people's nerves, but I'll take that any day over the utter dross that constitutes Lose Control. Seriously. Who can identify with that tune besides the mums, teens, and annoying relatives? 'Cause I can't. It doesn't help that news came in about TikTok banning anybody signed to Universal Records getting played on the site, meaning supporters of Swifty, O-Rod and Lana Del Rey are gonna have to reconsider their approach.

Oh, and The Weeknd has another Top 10 single. Can we talk about the positive stuff now? PLEASE!? I don't care if this is Madonna's first appearance here in 15 years, I've had enough of Abel Tesfaye never choosing when to quit. It's ridiculous. It's stupid. It's demoralising. And worst of all, it probably isn't even the last of it. If I was tasked with gunning down musicians, The Weeknd would be right up there. Behind Cian Ducrot, obviously. And Paul Russell. And Teddy Swims. And so on and so forth. By the way, it's now 64 Top 10 singles for Madonna, only Elvis and Cliff have more than her.

Might as well run through the other negative bits as quickly as possible then. Kygo's up twelve, a move which makes me want to exterminate the human race. Benson Boone slowly approaching the Top 10 is also very negative in my eyes, and can ACR come and zap some songs away now? I know it's finally caught a victim this year, in the form of Tyla's Water, but there's a fair few songs that are past their sell-by-date. Prada. Cruel Summer. greedy. Asking. I Remember Everything. DNA (Loving You). On My Love. Need I go on?

By the way, James Arthur has the No.1 album this week. I'm too disappointed in the likes of Tom Odell, The Reytons and The Smile to care. Especially the latter. They bottled their midweek lead. If you lose to a guy who's stubbed his toe more time since 2021 than he's had Top 40 hits, then you've completely shafted yourselves. Clearly the Radiohead side-project should retire off the back of this.

Can I continue yet? I can!? Took me long enough...

Leading the new entries, to the bemusement of everyone around, is the latest in a long lineage of Bob Marley descendants. Since the reggae legend popped his clogs, there's been Ziggy, Selah, Skip, and Damian "Jr. Gong" Marley all releasing music to various levels of success. As far as the modern generation are concerned, they're too busy hyping up YG Marley, a guy whose debut release Praise Jah In The Moonlight has spiralled with TikTok virality, thanks to eerily sampling Grandad Bob's Jamming, even down to stealing the album's Amharic font on the cover. It also doesn't . Which is kind of a miracle when you think about it. Admittedly I loved Damian's 2005 Top 20 smash Welcome To Jamrock, but no else did, given he faded into obscurity shortly afterwards. Let's not make the same mistake happen twice with YG, alright? We could do with some Jamaican rhythms in the charts again.

So he's at 20, and at 22 is the debut effort from the latest in a long line of acts with potential scribbled all over themselves. Since 2003, BBC have been running their Sound Of.. thing, where 10 artists are put in the limelight, and everyone begrudges their songs with approval. Yet for every 50 Cent, Sam Smith, Years & Years or Lewis Capaldi there's a Jack Garratt. Or a Pa Salieu, an Octavian, or The Bravery, whose success stops at some point in March 2005 once An Honest Mistake sunbathed out of the Top 10. Given last year's winners, FLO, got as high as 38 with their songs, you could be forgiven for thinking this year's ascendants will end up as virtual unknowns again by 2025. Think again. London five-piece The Last Dinner Party are makers of a sound pitched somewhere between Wet Leg's gritty forest-filled stage presence, and Lungs-era Florence & The Machine with the amount of lyrics that need an encyclopedia's worth of knowledge to acquire. I also absolutely adore them, given I am the site's resident indie-know-it-all. Radio 1 B-listed effort My Lady Of Mercy is slightly better than this, but clearly everyone knows what song to put on TikTok right now as they clatter upwards to 22. Nothing Matters is just ace, there's no getting around it. The minute the swear-fuelled chorus hits the road you knew it was gonna go viral. Debut album Prelude to Ecstasy came out today, so expect this to be Top 20 next week. I hope.

As for the others, Megan Thee Stallion seems to be in a sort of limbo at the moment. Ever since WAP shot to the top in 2020, she's had it rough in terms of chart positions. Hotly-tipped Dua Lipa collab Sweetest Pie stiffed at 31 in 2022, last year's much-awaited Cardi B reunion song Bongos scraped to 35 last year, and numerous other efforts have fallen on deaf ears. Even her current tune, HISS, was positioned in the 50s midweek. Thankfully, said song crawls to 31, even though it probably should've done better. HISS is a diss track, mainly aimed at Nicki Minaj, but a few other people that don't really relate with her have been blamed as well. As for the tune itself? Yeah it alright. Could do without the shouting though, Megan. Kinda hard to listen to your tune when you're yelling 5 obscenities a second. Also entering the 40 whose name starts with M is Michael Marcagi, the latest TikTok folky balladeer newbie to throw his hat in the ring with Scared To Start. The song is more Zach Bryan than Noah Kahan when it comes to the quality side of things. And by that, I mean it SOOKS.

As for the others, we see the return of two chart stalwarts this week. First up is good old Skepta, a man who has actually been having hits for 14 YEARS. Good for him. I loved Shutdown and That's Not Me, and I have a soft spot for Make Peace Not War, even though I can see why nobody else did. After the Mas Tiempo-alias misstep that was the Amy Winehouse-trampling Can't Play Myself, his new one is a good return to hip-hop form. Gas Me Up (Dilligent) probably won't get higher than 32, but I like it none-the-less. Can't say the same for the other new hit though.

If you were Justin Timberlake right now, looking at how his first new track for 6 years has entered, what would you be thinking? Maybe you'd be questioning your fanbase, as to how everybody seems to have forgotten you had a new song out from an upcoming album (out next month). Or, you could be considering quitting altogether at the sight of how AWFUL this chart position is. Not to say that Selfish is bad or anything, it's just....BORING. And that's a word you don't associaite with Justin's lead singers. Like I Love You, Sexyback, Mirrors, heck, even Say Something were all memorable in their own little way. However, writing this review, I've already completely forgotten what Selfish sounds like. And that's just sad.

He did announce he'll be touring soon, so I guess that's good. Also You Me At Six broke up this week, but I don't think anyone here cares. I'm only saying this because someone in my college group loves them to bits, and doesn't shut up about how "YOU CAN FEEL THE LYRICS IN UNDERDOG AND ALL THAT". I don't like any of their stuff. I just think that they were a second-rate All-American Rejects. And no one wants to have THAT put on their career tombstone, no matter how many No.1 albums they had. (2, to be precise.)

Outside Da Fortee, and leading the potential hits parade is Yung Filly, who shoots to 49 with Grey, immediately identifying him as a Brit. Becuase we spell gray "GREY" over here. Nicki Minaj threw new single Big Foot out there midweek, so 56 is a completely justifiable position for her new tune, Renee Rapp and MTS shoot up to 61 with their Mean Girls duet thingy-ringy, Ice Spice returns at a lowly 75 (too many female rappers this week I presume), meanwhile all the other hits are absolute nonsense. Can someone PLEASE note me as to why Home by Good Neighbours is at 81? 'Cause I do not get it. TikTok virality is at fault for Empire of the Sun's Top 20 smash We Are The People from 2009 jumping back in at 79, meanwhile the other three entrants are the cause of totally hip and definitely not offensive animated charade Hazbin Hotel, a YouTube series that has more views than these reviews will ever get, and given it's now on Amazon Prime, a whole new audience. EPs of songs from these episodes hit iTunes, which explains why the hits at 77, 96 and 98 have ended up where they are. So good for them I s'pose.

Now leave me alone, I'm sick of talking about these songs.

(P.S. Apart from the music scene, January sucked, didn't it? And I don't think February is gonna be much cop either, compared to what the past few years have thrown at us. Eh. Maybe it can prove me wrong. Even though they won't.)

No way Ice Spice's new single actually managed to chart! 😭

Good to see 'Escapism' back in though and hopefully it'll rebound a lot next week with the release of the 4am remix.

SHE'S STILL PROMOTING IT!? GIVE IT A REST WOMAN!!

Just kidding, I'm glad she's getting the respect she deserves, but she's in dangerous 1-hit wonder territory with how little her other hits performed compared to Escapism..

And yes I intentionally meant to put two full stops.

Piran

I doubt RAYE will be a one-hit wonder and she isn't if you count her featured appearances.

I find it strange that she's dropping a remix this late, but I think it's to do with BRITs promotion and the one-year anniversary of 'My 21st Century Blues'.

The full stop in the title annoys me a bit too but it doesn't really matter when it's such an amazing song!

Shame that ‘Water’ is now on ACR but it had a very successful run for a solo amapiano hit and at least it’s still here. ‘Skin and Bones’ would’ve been downgraded to Awful had it lasted another week.

Very happy that ‘Hiss’ made it into the Top 40… especially over ‘Big Foot’! 😩

'I Remember Everything' is one of the best country hits I've heard in a very long time. The chemistry Zach and Kacey have along with the passion they sing with over a heartbreaking situation really gets me everytime.
