Here are some things to note about this week:
• Top 10 debut for ArrDee & Aitch's highly anticipated collab War. I expected it to debut high. As for the song itself... it's fine. Wish it was a lot better, but I don't mind it.
• Speaking of ArrDee, Flowers (Say My Name) has dropped out out of the Top 40, as has Make You Smile, My Universe & I Drink Wine. In the case of Flowers (Say My Name), thank God! The song is f**king awful & if I were to do a list of the worst UK hit songs of 2021, I'd place it at Number 8. I found both samples to be poorly used & I don't think I need to comment on the toxicity of the content. As for the other songs, it's a shame they've fallen; Make You Smile is the first time I've found myself really liking a D-Block Europe song. However, I can maybe see it rebounding after the video dropped, so that's good. Not much to say about My Universe, it sounds absolutely perfect & the performances are very good. And I Drink Wine is one of the best songs Adele has EVER made. The instrumental has a nice swell to it, as usual her performance is great & the writing is exceptional.
• Liam Gallagher debuts in the top 20! I have a complicated opinion overall on Liam Gallagher & for that matter, Oasis. I'm conflicted on what I think of his new song. Instrumentally it's fine, but everything else I just don't really care.
• Top 40 debuts for Tate McRae, Nicki Minaj & Lil Baby, Juice WRLD & Jax Jones featuring MNEK. Tate's song I actually quite like, which is odd because I'll admit... I absolutely hated you broke me first. I don't care if the lyrics were good or not, it was one of the worst sounding songs to have become a hit in the past 5 years & I absolutely hated Tate's voice. I was especially annoyed it made TWO UK year end lists in a row. So I'm surprised that I kinda like her new song. I'm still not on board at all with her voice, but the lyrics & the instrumental? they deliver. Nicki & Lil Baby's new track has some good flows & a nice synth line, but the production's very clumsy & there are some questionable lines. Can't expect much from Nicki, but I do expect better from Lil Baby, an artist I've grown to quite like over the past couple of years. Next is Juice WRLD & all I gotta say is these posthumous album rollouts are getting ridiculous now! It just feels very gross that Juice's legacy is becoming like that of XXXTentacion (& for the record, I never hated either of this artists when they were alive, they made some songs I did flatout enjoy). Is the good song? It's better than Already Dead at least, but I can't look past the fact his label is clearly trying to make some quick cash off his death & I can't respect it at all for that. And finally, there's Jax Jones' new song with MNEK. Musically, it's great & it's just a fun bouncy house track. If it sticks around, I'll be fine with it.
• Numb Little Bug enters the top 40! Very pleased it has, as it's a very good track if I do say so myself. Fun instrumental & well thought out lyrics too. Not quite a fan of the vocals, but aside from that, very happy it's here.
• Blinding Lights & Clash are back in! The former is destined to become a classic & rightfully so, because it's a great song, although you didn't need me to tell you that. Honestly though, I never really cared for Clash. The piano line, Stormzy & the beat switch up, they're all fine. But Dave puts in probably his most underwhelming performance ever & the production outside of the switch up is pretty bad. Pretty disappointing track, I expect a lot better from Dave.

Red Hot Chili Peppers haven't had a top 40 hit in 15 years, and they fall just short with Black Summer - which I think is one of the best songs they've done in years, since John Frusciante came back into the band. It's very reminiscent of their Californication-era stuff. Should have charted higher.
