Who is Labrinth?

Labrinth (Timothy Lee McKenzie) born on 4 January 1989 is a British singer, songwriter, rapper and record producer, known or his hits Beneath Your Beautiful (Ft Emili Sande), Last Time and Earthquake (Ft Tinie Tempah), as well as collaborations with Tinie Tempah, The Weeknd, Devlin and Nicki Minaj.

In October 2012, Labrinth scored his first UK solo Number 1 on the Official Singles Chart with Beneath Your Beautiful, the sixth single from his hit album Electronic Earth. The song, which features the vocals of - and is co-written by unofficial woman of the year Emeli Sandé, becomes Labrinth’s premier chart topper as a solo artist, breaking the 100k sales barrier and rocketing to the top spot with a huge sale of nearly 108,000 copies.

It was announced in November 2025 that Labrinth will cover Alison Limerick's Where Love Lives and become the voice of the John Lewis Christmas Advert 2025.

On being part of this, Labrinth added "To think a boy like me from East London's Hackney, who grew up watching this iconic advert would one day reimagine a classic and compose a piece of music for John Lewis’s forward thinking direction is a big deal for me. This advert is embedded in British Christmas culture and I miss home, so I’m honoured to be a part of it."
