The charts are ruined. "Murder on the dancefloor" no.3? I know buying habits have changed but the algorithm needs to change to represent new music as it always has done.

It's always been the case, though, that older things have unexpectedly caught fire and had a new lease of chart life. A functional chart will always be full of new things with the odd bit of sampling and re-emergence based on what else is happening culturally (such as a song used in an advert, film, TikTok trend, or by someone who's recently died, for example). I don't think Murder On The Dancefloor coming back for a bit is the end of the world :-)

I find it weird that journalists are saying that Liam Gallagher might get his first solo Number 1 when it is not a solo record. It is like saying Paul Simon got a solo Number 1 when he recorded with Art Garfunkel. It is an equal collaboration so not a solo record. Like Adam Lambert + Queen

My thoughts about the 2nd week of the 25th year of the century.

  • Noah Kahan has about 5 days to live, given Ariana Grande's imminent arrival.
  • Sophie Ellis-Bextor and her red lipstick (circa 2001) will end the world.
  • The power of the 7-inch compels you. Still, I didn't expect Liam and John to do THIS well.
  • Clearly I'm the only person here who dislikes Teddy Swims.
  • Bring Me The Horizon are back, and by the looks of things, still ripping everybody's ears off.
  • Sabrina Carpenter isn't going away in a hurry.
  • Can The Weeknd just stop trying to clog the charts? 'Cause I don't get how Popular is, well, 'POPULAR' again.
  • The Saltburn epidemic is still lingering.
  • Did you want a man to rap over a Britney Spears instrumental in your charts? Tough.
  • The Lewis Capaldi album tracks (thankfully) aren't up to much.
  • Big things are expected now for Flo Milli. In other news, YET ANOTHER FEMALE RAPPER.
  • I don't know why the BBC Sound of 2024 winners had to be so eclectic, but if it gets The Last Dinner Party into the charts, then so be it.
  • D-Block Europe will never stop trying.
  • Same with Potter Payper, but a loss less banal and monotonous.
  • Does anyone have a clue how Natasha Bedingfield has stormed up the Spotify charts? Because I'm just lost.
  • Cat Burns continues her quest to become a wasted promise, as shown by the performance of this Goddard collab.
  • Li Tecca's here. Remember him? From Ransom? Yeah, me neither.
  • Does anyone outside of the states want Something In The Orange back?

oh wait.

Anyways, see you on Ariana Granday. ;)

It's only the 24th year of the 21st Century. Centuries go ( as in normal counting from 1 to 100.

The year 2000 was the last year of the 20th Century.

The year 2000 is in this century which is the 21st

It wouldnt make sense if it was grouped with 1901 in the same century because the hundreds digit has changed

Good to see 'Murder On The Dancefloor' move into the Top 3.

This could seriously be a future #1 with the streaming momentum it has! 😊

Why on earth would that be a good thing? The song is 22 years old and has not been brought into the mainstream. The charts need redoing.
