Official Singles Chart Update on 25/11/2019

Hi Piran, hope you are well. There are plenty of xmas songs new and old starting to appear. One I must highlight is the track currently at 71 by Ellie Goulding called 'river' as it's an Amazon original but hitting the top 100 update, I dont think it's available on spotify or apple music although it can be listened to on YouTube. I'm not highlighting this for how good the song is, it's a cover version (if you didnt know I dislike cover versions especially coming from an established artist) but the fact that it is barely in the Amazon top 40 but is in the top 100. As you always state about spotify and apple music being the biggest streamers whereas I think Amazon is just as a big a player as the other 2 and although it does generally have older tracks ruling its charts, I would say it most certainly has a huge impact on the official charts each week also

Is that 'River' by Eminem ft Ed Sheeran she's covering? Anyway, it seems like Amazon music had a bit more an impact that I thought. It seems like a song that's barely Top 40 there but also an exclusive can still make the OCC update!

I don't expect anything big to come of it, but it's very rare we get a song that charts on Amazon streams alone.

Hi Piran, I'm good thanks. I think it's a far older song than that, Joni Mitchell so many many years ago but is a Christmas song, I doubt it will do much either, there have been a few Amazon originals Katy Perry, Bastille. I guess it's a good marketing ploy as if people join who like these artists just to stream the song then there is the chance they will switch their subscription over too.
Anyway should be an exciting chart on Friday especially the top 5 which I think could all easily change from now until then although I think dance monkey will most likely hold on for another week at the top.

I do think Bastille will easily be in the Top 40 this week with their 'Can't Fight This Feeling' cover, but I don't think it'll be among the biggest John Lewis Christmas songs unfortunately.
