THIRTY THREE (by my count) greatest hits/compilation albums in the chart.
MAKE A SEPERATE CHART FOR THEM!
N
Nickherts
It cuts both ways. Ariana Grande achieved the rare distinction of getting a second week at number one without leading on sales in either week which felt a bit unsatisfactory. One thing about this week’s top 40 is that the new entries are really very good, not least Tyla.
faiyaz
the album chart is such a joke nowadays, every week giving some actual random that barely anyone knew dropped music a number 1 because of chart manipulation (WHO cares about physicals) while the actually successful acts get blatantly robbed. 3 songs in the top 20 from future & metro's album but elbow's was bigger yeah...? tyla even got 3 songs in the top 100 but she sits at 19 while jesus and mary chain brag a top 10 in 2024. occ sort your rules out so the albums chart matters again please

You are very wrong here. Future & Metro boomin had no physical release at all, so the record secured its debut on streams and downloads alone, there was not any manipulation.
But since you mention it, others believe It should be the other way around. The singles charts is too much based on streams and we see so much cr*p flooding it. Music that nobody will remember in the future. But ok, it should represent what is popular.
Elbow are a great band and still have a big audience that bought their album the week it came out, so they made it to number 1.
Tyla is great too but her much younger audience will mostly stream her songs without buying the album and therefor she has 3 tracks in the Top 100 but not a high place in the album chart. As for Jesus & Mary Chain it is always nice too see an important band to enter the top 10 but we all know their album will disappear by the third week.
In such low quality days with mediocre artists as Taylor Swift dominating the charts, it's so great to see Elbow at the top even if the album will also drop quite fast.
