Nice to see that after 35 years in the business Kylie Minogue is still relevant and still sells 🤑🤑🤑. This era is being very promising. Cannot wait for future releases from Tension 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼

a warm welcome back to by green day, following its 30th anniversary. love them and i cannot WAIT for their comeback <3

i’m so over the moon to see ultraviolence by lana del rey back in the chart at number 7 (she’s above kylie lol!), but i’m also wondering why it’s there? either way, it’s perfect timing that i bought the cd on tuesday and three days later it’s back in the top 10 haha

I'm not happy with the album charts this week because Mae Muller's debut studio album "Sorry I'm Late" debuted at #33 on the Official Album Charts, which is not right to do that to a breakthrough artist who worked hard to get success in the Top 10.
The record company, music industry and official charts company should think again and reconsider bringing Mae Muller's debut album into the Top 10 in the album charts, so that it deserves more credit of bringing new popstars into the music industry like what Mimi Webb did!
Mae Muller should deserve some credit in the charts like reconsidering five other released singles from Mae Muller's debut album into the Top 20 or even in the Top 10 like "I Wrote A Song" did and release one track to be the "Promotional single", so that album can receive more sales and get more promotion and publicity in relation to the album.

Kylie’s actually done ok just falling 1-8, mainly because of new entries. Interesting to see what happens to Ed’s album next week.
G
Gery
But Olivia Rodrigo and The Weeknd's albums were released before Tension and they're higher. An old album by Lana is also above Kylie. lol
G
Gery
Oh dear. "Pension" down to #8, as well as the second single tumbling down the charts after all that promotion, and fanfare over her so called Vegas residency. She's not exactly having much longevity, is she?
Padump Padump was obviously a fluke.
Shoogle
It's very rare for any album to stay at No.1 for more than a week now, with only two new releases doing it so far this year, so we have had another 32 flop albums this year. Don't remember seeing you make any similar comments about them.

Once again, you attack Kylie for the industry standard. A mere 7 place drop outperforms many records this year. Or even for this decade. My personal expectations were somwhere between 20-25. It is a surprise it is so high. The official album chart page isn't loading for checking, but from memory, the last time a male act had 3 consecutive weeks at #1 was in 2019! (Rod Stewart). I suspect Ed could be the first this decade to achieve it. It has only been achieved by 3 other acts 4 times since then: Olivia Rodrigo, Adele, and Taylor Swift (twice). Even 2 consecutive weeks is a rare event this decade.Let's not forget Madonna's last release dropped 15 places from first release, so "those in glass houses" and all....
Many have even dropped straight out of the top 100 from #1 over same period.
D
djcarbines
I expect, to your ignorance, that every one of the other 32 one-week #1s this year have also been promoted and on pre-order for literally months - promoted to their fanbases. I know full well from artists I follow and struggle (these days) to reach the top 40, let alone come close to #1, that they get promotion and pre-orders for AT LEAST 4 months. Sometimes they are announced before it is recorded and therefore, without tracklists. Another reason albums drop out so quickly, is that they are targeted to known fanbases and not the mass market which they no longer appeal to. This leads to selling out of all copies in 1 week, leaving none left to sell to stay on chart for a 2nd week.
G
Gery
No one mentioned or even hinted at Madonna and yet you just couldn't resist, could you? "Finally Enough Love" was a compilation album full of remixes that fans already had on the singles, so fans were surprised it performed as well as it has. It wasn't a brand new studio album that's being promoted everywhere like Kylie's is. and may I remind you that Madonna, (at the same age Kylie is now) had the 12th biggest selling album of the year in 2012 with 1.8m in sales. There's very little chance of Tension matching that in this climate, but it'll be interesting to see how much (or rather, little) longevity it has regardless.
G
Gery
Blah Blah Blah. I didn't even read that. The first post was hard enough to wade through without drifting off to asleep, I'm not going through it again.
D
djcarbines
As you say, they climate has changed. We're comparing apples with oranges and always have been when going for equal ages. Each year that progresses makes it harder for heritage acts to have any impact outside of greatest hits. I expect Tension to have 5 top 75 weeks. As I say, it has already exceeded my expectations and is WAY beyond the comparible market. It is more common than not for a #1 album to drop out of the 10.
D
djcarbines
Which proves your aforementioned ignorance.
Pay more A-Tension, and you'd know the market.
G
Gery
I'm ignorant to you and your BS, yes. Not to the market and how it works.
itsnoodleszn_
“pension” LMAOOO
gotta agree with you about padam too. that was just luck. there was also the title track which was in the top 20 for one week but it nosedived out of the top 100. probably because kylie sounded like a robot on it.
and regarding vegas residencies, adele is doing it better lol
D
djcarbines
Your comments show you clearly have no idea how the market works - either today or historically. Or you have a personal vendetta against Kylie for whatever reason. Probably both.
But carry on. I enjoy laughing at you.
G
Gery
lmao. Your comments do nothing but reveal how bothered you are, but carry on with your delusions if it makes you feel better. I'm loving the fact your nerves, anger and mentality become more frayed each time I post. Only a few more pushes to go... lol
D
djcarbines
Remind me what I'm bothered about...
I'm just here for and giggles and you bite every time...thanks!
Although I'd rather talk about the actual chart rather than some hasbeen on the way down or who hasn't hit this year. Or, God forbid, some intellectual stimulation if you (or anyone else for that matter), engage with the analysis.
G
Gery
Bite? I'm simply humoring you, hon.
If you really wanted to talk about the charts, you would've done so, but all I've seen you do is respond to my comments about Kylie.
The fact that you always pop up whenever I say anything critical about her shows exactly how bothered you are. How I roared when Jack Fitsy dragged you all over the comments section a few months back leaving you gasping for air, which still makes me chuckle.
The only has-been on the way down is Kylie, going by the results of her latest flop single, which will probably be out of the chart in another week or so. Meanwhile, Popular remains very much active on the singles chart - not just UK but in other parts of the world.
Madonna's tour is still very much going ahead and the fact it's making your temperature soar brings me so much joy. lol
Shoogle
Yes, the title track spent one week in the top 20, but it is a false claim to say it nosedived out of the top 100, when it is on it's fifth week in the top 75.
G
Gery
Where did I say it "nosedived out of the top 100"? It's a flop compared to Padam Padam, which was clearly a fluke in the first place.
Shoogle
Gery, OCC has placed my reply to someone else under your comment. I was responding to itsnoodleszn_.
D
djcarbines
You answering is what I count as biting. I pull you up on your factual inaccuracies - about the chart. Look around this site, and you'll see I 'pop up' on a number of artists, but as you ONLY comment on Kylie or Madonna, you wouldn't know that. You aren't special. I comment on others' factual inaccuracies too, including the OCC themselves - and Mr Fitsy. There are many! In fact so many that I gave up completing my comprehensive list of errors and corrected them on my own references instead. OCC have left errors unrectified that I let them know about 5 years ago. Looking at old Guinness copies, some of these errors have been in the database for at least 30-40 years! (and remain so).
The 'hasbeen' going down I was referring to was in fact Kylie. You clearly seem to think I was referring to Madonna, which suggests you think the shoe fits her too. You're right, it does.
As for the tour, like MJ's, I'll believe it when I see it. Or, more likely, hear about it from here. His was 'very much' going ahead too...
Of course if Warner have anything to do with it, it probably won't effect the chart too much.
